Ron Starkey Olson

Am looking for living descendents of these surnames, located in Degerfors Parish, VB, Sweden. These are my direct line ancestors and I am trying to complete a family history and the genealogy data on these names. I have quite a bit of info obtained from parish records, clerical surveys, etc., but want to establish connection with living descendents.

In english please. Contact me at my email address shown: ron@thestarkeys.com.

Hi Ron,

In addition to posting on Anbytarforum's Discussions in English section, try posting on the Swedish language sections. You can post in English and if someone responds, the answer will most likely be in English too, but if not, someone else generally does the translating for you. Here is a direct link. (However, they will probably ignore your post since all you have are patronymic names and that isn't detailed enough.)

The Swenson Center site has a FAQ page and the first question deals with finding living relatives in Sweden.

However, names such as Olofsson (son of Olof), Olofsdotter (daughter of Olof), Israelsson (son of Israel), Israelsdotter (daughter of Israel), Pehrsson (son of Pehr), etc. aren't going to help you find relatives. Most of us have many examples of those patronymic names in our ancestry. They aren't really surnames and the last names changed each generation depending on the name of the father. Read about the Swedish naming customs at SweGGate.

Follow this pathway.

Look at this site to see the minimum of what you need to provide in order for Swedes to help you.

Since you already have this information, adding those details should not be too tough :-).
