It appears that my 4th great grandmother lived a long life.  Any help finding her after 1911(?) would be appreciated.  See attached 1905-1920 Församlingsbok.

She went missing, or was discovered to be missing. She  is moved to "Obef", the "obefintlighetsbok", the book of missing people. The one used at the time (Edsleskog (P) AIII:1) is in the archives, but was used until 1967, so it's still under secrecy. You can ask the Landsarkiv about what's noted there.

Thanks Staffan.  Considering her advanced age, it might be safe to assume that she passed away and her information was never updated.  I'll have to do a closer scan of the death records from that period.

May I suggest another alternative...?

If you follow Brita Lisa Berg through the householdrecords in Edsleskog you can see that after her husband dies in 1869 there are notes about her living with her daughter in Sälboda. And then also notes about America with a question mark, see Edsleskog (P) AI:21 (1881-1885) Bild 57 / sid 49 (AID: v3909.b57.s49, NAD: SE/GLA/13092).

I saw that her daughter Brita Maria (who also goes by the last name Berg) moved to Sälboda bruk in Gunnarskog parish in 1871, see Edsleskog (P) AI:19 (1871-1875) Bild 54 / sid 45 (AID: v3907.b54.s45, NAD: SE/GLA/13092).

Brita Maria Berg has two daughters in Gunnarskog before she emigrates with them in 1881, see Gunnarskog (S) AI:27 (1881-1885) Bild 98 / sid 690 (AID: v11450.b98.s690, NAD: SE/VA/13170).

Her youngest daughter Ida Kristina born May 3rd 1881 was the daughter of Anders Peter Hane. And from what I can tell Anders Peter Hane emigrated in October of 1880.

Brita Maria Berg and Anders Peter Hane marries in Chicago on December 18th 1881:
Name   Andrew P. Hahne
Age   24
Gender   Male
Birth Year   abt 1857
Birth Place   Chicago, Cook, Illinois
Marriage Type   Marriage
Marriage Date   18 Dec 1881
Marriage Place   Chicago, Cook, Illinois
Spouse Name   Maria Berg
Spouse Age   24
Spouse Gender   Female
Spouse Birth Place   Chicago, Cook, Illinois
FHL Film Number   1030121

I have tried to find Brita Maria Berg and her two daughters passenger lists to see if Brita Lisa Berg joined them. But that turned difficult. So I tried to find a death record for Brita Lisa Berg in Chicago, but not found that either.

However, I get the feeling that maybe you should keep looking for her in the US. She had more children that emigrated so I would follow them as well for clues.

Brita Maria Berg and her two daughters (surname Strömberg) left from Oslo 29 July 1881, https://www.digitalarkivet.no/view/8/pe00000000955143. Can not find the mother in the passenger list from that day.

Tack!

I think it also says 1873 in the note column in Edsleskog (P) AI:21 (1881-1885) Bild 57 / sid 49 (AID: v3909.b57.s49, NAD: SE/GLA/13092). But I cannot see what is meant by that date. It is written very weakly.

I think the note says "Borta sedan 73 ?" -- "gone since (18)73 ?".

Thanks!

I just found this entry:
Name   Brita Lisa Berg
Gender   Kvinnelig
Death Age   79
Record Type   begravelse (Burial)
Birth Date   1812
Birth Place   MO Sogn Dalsland
Death Date   20 Febr
Burial Date   28 feb 1891
Burial Place   Hof, Vestfold, Norge (Norway)
Burial Municipality   Hof

It says she was a Swedish widow. Could perhaps any of the children be living in Norway at this time? Or is this another Brita Lisa Berg?

Brita Lisa Berg born September 28th 1812 can be found with her parents and siblings in Mo, se e.g. Mo (P) AI:8 (1831-1835) Bild 24 / sid 19 (AID: v4024.b24.s19, NAD: SE/GLA/13371).

This Brita Lisa Berg moves to Edsleskog 1832 (noted as Hesselskog).

Her daughter Kristina born January 28th 1835 married Andreas Nordström. He died 1879 and then Kristina moves to Norway, see Gunnarskog (S) AI:25 (1876-1880) Bild 360 / sid 946 (AID: v11448.b360.s946, NAD: SE/VA/13170).

I found this marriage:
Name   Christane Petersdatter Nordstrøm
Marriage Age   46
Record Type   ekteskap (Marriage)
Birth Date   28 jan 1835
Birth Place   Sverige
Marriage Date   30 jan 1881
Marriage Place   Hof, Vestfold, Norge (Norway)
Marriage Municipality   Hof
Father
Peter Berg
Spouse
August Preus

So maybe Brita Lisa Berg lived with Kristina in Sälboda, Gunnarskog and followed her to Norway?

Could perhaps be of interest that August Preuss had been married before too. He and his family moved to Norway 1877 where his wife died the same year, https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:683P-MSTQ.

So the children mentioned here are his by his first marriage, https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QG5Y-TVM5.

Wow!
This is a lot to unpack, but many questions have been answered!

Christina Petersdotter (Brita Lisa's daughter) married Andreas Nordstrom in 1862.  Both brought a son into the marriage, Christina's Andrew and Andreas' Carl August.  They had no children together.  Christina emigrated to Norway and her son Andrew to America in November 1880, about a year and a half after Andreas died.  Brita Lisa Berg isn't found on the emigration list with Christina, and so perhaps she moved to Norway sometime after Christina was married?

I haven't attempted to explore the Norwegian records, but it is now high on my list of things to do.

Thanks everyone.

I still think Brita Lisa Berg left for Norway together with her daughter Kristina. I don't think you will find any records of that though since she was still registered in Edsleskog parish. They never informed the priest so she was moved to obefintlighets boken when she would have turned 100 years old.

You are likely right.  It makes sense that Brita Lisa would have traveled with her daughter to Norway, and since she was "missing" from her home parish for who knows how long, it's the most reasonable theory.

Brita Lisa Berg died 20 Feb 1892, Hof Jalsberg og Larvik, Norway.

I found her here:
"Norway Church Books, 1815-1930", database, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:683P-4SQG : 4 August 2021), Brite Lien Berg, 1892.

I found her daughters husband August Preus' death record, but not her daughters (Christina Petersdotter).  More searching to do.

Thanks everyone!
