I have been researching my ancestors in Denmark for a few years and recently found my ancestor Truels (Truls) Jensen was born in Skaane in 1775 according to the 1845 Asminderød Danish census. But that is all I know about his birthplace and realize that is a large area to search.
Using some of the online databases for Swedish records, I am finding that Jensen is not very common in Sweden and the searches yield mostly Jonsson or similar.
I was looking for guidance on the naming convention in Sweden. Would Truels’ father have been named Jens or Jons? A lot of the search results for Truels (Truls) have also yielded completely different fathers’ names. I thought finding a father with the first name of Jens would be the best place to start as I have done in Denmark but now I am unsure.
I appreciate any thoughts and guidance. Thank you!
