Wenersborg -- Where is it?

We have a photograph we think of Sophie Bernadotte, our great grandmother, taken by photographer Ollie Presto of Wenersborg?  Where is that?  Might it be parish or area in Stockholm?  Are there directories to list photographers or other businesses from late 19th century?  Like City Directories?

There is a parish called Vänersborg in Älvsborg län (county) in western Sweden, near its southern border with Norway.  In the first part of the 20th century and earlier one of its spelling forms was Wenersborg.

Vänersborg is not just a parish, it is a city so it is not surprising that your great grandmother went there to have her picture taken. And Älvsborgs län (county) merged into Västra Götalands län in 1998, but it is still in the province (landskap) of Västergötland. Observe the difference!

Olle Presto was well-known photographer i Vänersborg around the turn of the century. I have a number of pictures of my relatives taken by him.

Hello David,
It is interesting that the name of your great grandmother was Bernadotte. Do you know that Bernadotte is the name of the Swedish Royal family and has been for 200 years? The swedish kings in the 19:th century had quite a lot of children both inside and outside their marriages.
I think you already know where Vänersborg is situated. There are about 25000 inhabitants. It is a nice little town. Most of all because I am a member of the local golf club.
