Ekman and Fiskare, their origins

I've had excellent success with people on these message boards helping to trace my great grand father Victor Swenson.
 
The surnames of a couple of his relatives intrigue me.
 
Sven Nillson Ekman, born July 5th 1817, Ovraby, Soderakra, near Kalmar. What is the origin of the name Ekman?
His parents were Nils Persson and Ingerd Persdotter. So where would the Ekman come in?
 
Also his daughters Emma and Carolina both married brothers with the surname Fiskare. What is the origin of that name?

The origin of these name is presumably that the became a boatswain or a craftsman of some kind.
 
Fiskare is certainly a boatswain name. Generally the children did not get that surname after the father they got the patronymic name.
 
When they got a craftsmans surname the children often got that surname.
 
It's the same way about soldiers, they often got another surname.
 
Maybe there is another person that can explain this better than I.
