I am a 4th generation Swedish American doing research on my ggrandfather named Hugo Ernest (Erickson) Vingren (rumor is change name on boat to Vingren) b. 1884 June 2 birthplace unknown.  His father we believe is Adolf Fredrick Erickson b. 1854 Feb 17 b. in Norabyboksta, Sonderman's Lan. My father stated that he was the personal valet to the King of Sweden, and in charge of the stables (per Hugo to my father)I did go to the National Arkiv Databse, but nothing populated for this name.  I have attached a photo of him on his horse and in military gear in hopes that this will further identify him.  From research that I have found and understood, lol, he may have been part of the Norrland Dragoon Unit maybe. He travel here in the early 1900's. I also read the thread started by Kurt Almark, but nothing there that I could see. Any info or history that is associated with him would be greatly appreciated.

Ernst Hugo Eriksson was bor 2 June in Hornsberg, Tryserum parish, Östergötland County. His parents were Adolf Fredrik Eriksson b 1854 in Bogsta, Södemanland County and Albertina Christina Andersdotter born 1856 in Hogstad, Östergötland County. In 1900 the family, with several children, live in Götestorp, Gärdserum parish, Kalmar County where the father is a gardner. Unfortunately, the parish books after 1900 are not scanned yet so I cannot follow Ernst Hugo to see if he emigrates.

I see on Ancestry that you ask about Adolf Gunnar Vingren, he seems to be Hogo´s brother, this is the family in 1900:
Eriksson, Adolf Fredrik   1854   Father
Andersdotter, Albertina Kristina   1856   Mother
(Barn), Adolf Gunnar   1879   Child
(Barn), Fritz Werner   1882   Child
(Barn), Emil Hugo   1884   Child (wrong in transcription! Should be Ernst)
(Barn), Ester Albertina Viktoria   1886   Child
(Barn), Judith Alice Ingeborg   1892   Child
(Barn), John Thure   1894   Child
(Barn), Bengt Albin   1897   Child
----------
Gunnar Vingren travels with his family from Gothenburg after a visit to Sweden in 1922 according to the Emigranten data base of passengers leaving Gothenburg. He applies for a passport 3 times according to the US passport applications in Ancestry.

Ernst Hugo worked as a clerk in Stockholm, from 30 Jan 1907 when he moved from Salem outside the city, before emigrating from Hedvig Eleonora parish, Stockholm city 11 june 1907 (Source: Rotemansarkivet, municipal listing of inhabitants in Stockholm). His parents and siblings lived in Rosenlund, Salem. There he is listed as having been a professional soldier with the Royal Horseguards until 1906. The parish book for the Royal Horseguards in Stockholm lists him as belonging to the 1st squadron with number 61. He was employed from Dec 12, 1902 until Oct 16, 1906. It is probably possible to get more information from the War Archives on his actual duties during this time. There are pictures and history (in Swedish) at http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Livgardet_till_h%C3%A4st. The main duty was to escort the Royal Family and higher officials. One officer and 20 men were constantly billeted in the Roya Castle.

Chris, where would I find more information? It is probably possible to get more information from the War Archives and his actual duties during this time. Again thank you. I am using Google Translation to view the webpage regarding the Regiment history as well. It may be possible for me to view any other links that you may have to Ernst's actual duties as well. Deb

`My name is Gunnar Vingren and I will try to help you a little bit more. My Grandfather was brother to Ernst. He had the same name as I have. He changed his name after his unc le Carl who was a missinary in China This Carl Vingren was the first swedish misionary from the batise church and went to china 1891. Later on he lived i US raising money for big reunion tent in china.
Gunnar Vingren    (1879-1933) together with Daniel Berg went from New York to Belem in Brazil as Misionarys in 1910 and foundet a great christin movment Asamblea de Deus. You can find much information about this on Google.,Photos and so on. This movement is celebrating 100 years this year.
The changing of name is because of this Carl Vingren. There were a garderning buisness in Rosenlund near a place called Rönninge in the commun of Salem. Some of your relativies is burried in a cemetery in Salem.  Many of your former ancisters were Gardeners. They had a house covered with glas and were cultivating drapes. According to this some relatives toke the name after this drapes in this house. Wine= vin and treebranch=gren
One of the earlyer gardners was gardner on the royal casle of Drottningholm.  Our king is living there today. If you want I can give you some more relatives. And some ealyer generations.
When I was a young boy I met with Werner. He was old and lived at this place Rosenlund on the second floor of the house there. Then it was a cousin to my father and her husband who ran this garderning buissnes. Today there is no buisness and now you find a lot of houses there.

Gunnar, what a pleasure to speak with you!  Thank you for getting in contact with me.  I would love to have more information on our family. I look forward to exchanging information with you.  This is wonderful news and backs up most of the information that I was given by a great Aunt, Ruth Vingren (Sister to my grandmother, Gladys, daughter of Hugh Ernst).  Thank you!  You can contact me directly at eponaspirit@gmail.com  Deb Schroer
