Hello,
I would like to know what town or towns would
I look for if I were to travel to Sweden  to visit
Stode parish.  I have looked at several maps
and each one makes it more difficult for me to
figure out where I would go.
Thank you for any help you could forward.

TruLee,
Stöde is situated about 30 kilometers west of the town Sundsvall (and belongs to Sundsvall community). From Stockholm (Arlanda airport) you can go by plane, train or car to Sundsvall (406 kilometers).
Hälsar vänligen
Maud

Maud Svensson,
Thank you for your directions on how to find
Stode parish. My husband and I hope to visit
the
birthplace of my Grandmother (Stode parish,
Sweden) and my
Grandfather(Drammen,Norway) in a
few years.  I have been told that both are
beautiful places to visit and that the people are
very friendly.

This is very off-topic, but I wouldn't characterize Drammen as a beutiful place, but it has certainly become a much nicer town the last 5 years. Drammen is less then an hour driving by car from the capital of Norway, Oslo, so I would recommend you to stay in Oslo during the visit.

Sincerely

Andreas,
When I said they were beautiful places I was
referring to Norway and Sweden themselves.
I
spoke just recently with a person who had
been to
both countries two years ago and she showed
me
the pictures she took on her trip. It is indeed a
trip I want to take and hope to visit the
birthplaces of my grandparents while there.
Oslo is the place we would be staying and
your
note about being only an hour away by car is
very
helpful. I understand one can take a train from
Oslo to Drammen that would be nice also as I
haven't ridden a train in 40 years.
Thanks again for your info.

Ok, I misunderstod you, and I can confirm that both Sweden and Norway are two very beutiful coutries :-)
It takes about a half of an hour with train from Oslo to Drammen, and if you have ancestors from Drammen, it could be worth a visit.

Andreas
