Trying to find ancestors

[Augustus Olsson]

I am trying to find out about my Great Grandfather.  He arrived in England before 1878 as that is when he married my Great Grandmother.  He was known as Augustus Olsson born 1st March 1855.  His father was Olof Anderson.  Family history has it that Augustus jumped ship in either Hull or Grimsby and that he came from Goteborg area.  I have tried several sites to try and locate information but have not been successful.  
 
His first entry in the British Census Records are 1881 where he is listed as (British Resident, Sweden)under birthplace.  
 
If anyone can help with searching for information I would be most grateful, it would be lovely to find out about this missing link in my family.

Unfortunately it is difficult help you since we don't know from which parish your great grandfather came. There are hundreds of parishes in the Goteburg area and many villages and farms in each parish. I have searced on a couple of Swedish databases but no luck.
 
I know how frustrating it is not to find what one is looking for. I myself am looking for relatives in the USA by help of Ancestry, but no luck there either.
