I am trying to search your site for information on my Holmgren relatives prior to the 1870 Båstad fire? Do any other records exist? Are there military records that could be used to track back further?
Pål Alexander Holmgren was born on April 4th 1781 in Skånesberga (I'm a bit uncertain on this village name) in the parish of Östra Ljungby (East Ljungby). His father was the cavalryman Hans Holmgren (who served in the Northern Scandian Cavalryregiment) and his mother's name wasn't entered in the birth records as far as I could see. Alexander Holmgren was enrolled in the navy as a seaman. He married Wilhelmina Christina Docken (born on Sept 19th 1771 in Förslöv and daughter of Quartermaster Bengt Henrik Docken, kvartermästare and his wife Elisabeth Catharina (von) Klevenow). They lived in the village of Önnarp in Förslöv parish.
Alexander and Wilhelmina had a son, Petter Alexander Holmgren on March 5th 1813. Petter Alexander later moved to the parish of Rebbelberga. Wilhelmina Christina Docken died on July 7th 1838 and Alexander Holmgren remarried, probably in Båstad (these records burned in 1870). His new wife was Karin Persdotter, she was born on Jan 1st 1816, probably in Båstad but those records are burned. They ended up moving to Östra Karup parish and lived there with their families.
