Male and female births

Mr. Ralph Erickson (International Reference Family History Library) wrote to me:  Male children were not recorded in the military records at birth in Sweden (I asked about the Beginning of the 18th Century). Why is this?
Is there an explanation for a simple genealogist?
This Info seems to coincide, what we experienced, looking for a daughter of a soldier, the sons were found in a town church record in Stockholm.

I don't think Swedish boys were automatically enrolled at birth to be a soldier. Perhaps that happened in other countries.
 
Swedes can probably provide you with a better answer.
