Need help finding records for Arvid Andersson b. 2 Apr 1872 in Narke/Orebro lan either in Asker or Askerlund. Tried to put this under landscap but cannot figure out how. Looking for parents and siblings mainly but any info appreciated.  Pat

Genline have the Husförshörslängd for Asker in Närke available and, even though it was rather many pages to search, I found the family living in Nybergs Grindstuga, Plogstorps estate, Asker. They lived there at least 1876 -1890 (the period for the available Husförshörslängd)
 
The family consisted of  
Arbetskarl (worker) Anders Peter Larsson, born April 13, 1835 in Lännäs
His Wife Stina Lisa Ersdotter, born June 22 1840 in Asker
 
The childrens, all born in Asker, are
Axel, born April 14 1863
Alma, born Jan 24 1866
Abraham, born Dec 6 1868
Arvid, born April 2 1872
Agda, born April 21 1875
Arthur, born March 16 1878
Anna, born March 1 1881
Alvina born May 16 1885
 
The children, from Abraham and later, are not baptized and the parents have a remark : Baptist.
 
Interesting that all kids have names starting A.
 
In the husförhörslängd 1886-1890 is it written that Arvid moves to Fors Södermanlands län in Oct 13, 1890.
I wrote earlier that he was found working in Fors in the 1890 census so now we now we have the right persons in the 1890 census.
 
In 1890 census lives Agda, Arthur, Anna and Alvina still at home with their parents.
 
Well, it's late so let's see what more we can find another day.

Mats, You have been so helpful I just wanted to fill you in on a record I just found, and of course ask a question.  NY passenger lists 1851-1891 arrival 10 Jun 1887 Arvid Anderson ae 15 from Tiderarum and Paterg (do you know where these are? Are they in Sweden?)  
Another NY passenger lists 1851-1891 arrival 23 Mar 1891 Arvid Anderson ae 19 from Sweden.
Could be that he came to America before 1902, that is why it says on manifest returning home. Either or both times. He did not enter Betel until 1895 and did not use the name Edstam until 1900 census. This person gets more interesting every day.  Pat

I couldn't see any signs in the Husförslängd about Arvid going to USA, so the first arrival, in June 1887, is , with very high probability, not your Arvid.
 
The second needs to be checked against information in Forsa

The second arrival is probably Arvid Andersson from Norrunga, P-län going to Emporium. He left Gothenburg March 16, 1891.
