Gotland Relatives

I am looking for information about the emigration of my grandfather Knut William Larsson. He emigrated to New York from Visby in 1899 when he was about 15 years old. Also his older brother Charles(Carl)Petter Larsson. He was 9 years older and I believe emigrated several years earlier.  I have checked the Ellis Island site and have found both of them on later voyages but can not find their original voyages.

It appears, therefore, that Karl Petter emigrated in 1901 or later. I suppose it is possible he emigrated earlier and then returned to Sweden for a while.
 
This site tells how to find ship manifests. Certainly it is not true that all emigrants came in through New York (Ellis Island).

I don't know if you have seen the rather new database on Gotland, lately, but if not, you need to download this wonderful database of everybody that ever lived on Gotland - includes over 150,000 names!
 
This database was researched by Ole Överby.  It takes about 45 minutes to download and about another 1/2 hr. to install it - which will open in Family Tree Maker and some other software.  But, believe me, it is well worth downloading.  
 
You can do a search for your ancestor - Knut William Larsson.  I did find him - but he is listed as Knut Wilhelm Larsson - showing his parents as Mårten Petter Olof Larsson and his mother as Lovisa Wilhelmina Christina Andersdotter (her fathers last name was Pettersson) - so I'm sure these are your family.
