The only one who fits the description in the Emibas emigration records (not a complete register!) is this man:
Post 1082606

Nilsson, Erik Adolf Alexander
Unmarried man

b. 12/12/1889 in Adolf Fredrik, Stockholms stad (Uppland)

Emigrated 9/8/1903
from Brännkyrkagatan 152, Maria Magdalena, Stockholms stad (Uppland)
to Amerika

Source: Rotemansarkivet, häfte 16142, s. 6

Un-normalized versions:

Parish of birth: Stockholm, Adolf Fredrik

He emigrates with his parents Klas Nilsson (b 1/15/1861, Torpa) and Matilda Wilhelmina Adamsson Nilsson (b 9/1/1856, Nättraby). Siblings, twins: Henning Olof Klas b 25 Sept 1892 and Inez Brita Matilda.

Someone who knows the Stockholm parish records could help you. The person Chris found is probably the right one. I looked at some data bases on Ancestry and found your  Erik Nelson in the WWII draft registration. His birthday was Dec 12 1889. He was born in Stockholm Sweden. He was married.

More information was found in the 1920 US Federal Census, NY, Kings, Brooklyn. His wife is called Ester and they have a daughter Viola 2 yrs old. AND his older brother Claus Nelson lives next door with his wife. This indicates that the family found by Chris is the one to look for in the birth records.

There are more traces in the US, but I suppose you have all of that. It was Sweden you were looking for.

Forget the information about the 1920 census. His brother Claus is younger, not older. His father's name was Klas, but are the Claus and Elina next door his parents? They are listed as being 53 and 52 years old, Claus having immigrated 1903 and Elina 1889.

Oh well, you wanted birth records, not US info. Sorry.

Esther Debora Nelson applies for a passport in 1923. She states that she was born in Gothenburg Feb 7, 1891 and immigrated Nov 14, 1912. She is married to Eric A.A. Nelson born 12 Dec. The identification is signed by Edina Nelson, 55th Street, Brooklyn. It sounds as if this is Erik Adolf Alexander´s wife. The he is the right person.

The Claud Nelson Karin found is married to an Elina or Edina - must be the father, but with the wrong age.

This is Ester:

The younger brother calls himself Henning when he is drafted for WWI, he is married and living in NY. His wife´s name is not given.

In the WWII draft he is living in Plainfield NJ. His wife is Lottie Nelson. She was born in NY, daughter of a Swedish man, Anderson, and Matilda from Finland according to the 1920 census.

Just to show what can happen: I looked in the WWI Draft Registration data base for Eric Nelson, but couldn't find him. The next time I looked I only used his date of birth and last name. He was indexed as Eris. He registered on June 5,1917 and was probably newly married. The image is hard to read. He was tall, of medium build, blue eyes and brown hair.

Chris, Karin & Judy,

Thank you for your help.  Yes, these are the correct people that I grew up with as friends of the family.  Since Esther's own daughter, Viola, died very young, she took a liking to my mother as a little girl.  Esther lived to be 103 years old.

Best regards,

Joseph
