Björn Edman

I am searching for descendants of the two sisters Lundgren, Jesa Karolina Geneveva (born 1868, 10 July in Ålem parish north of Kalmar in Småland)and Emmy Ottilia Vilhelmina (born 1872, 26 May).

Jesa emigrated about 1885 to USA. She was married to Eli Turville. In 1927 they were situated in California.

Emmy emigrated 1904, probably from Södertälje. Then she was unmarried. Later she was married to Kylkinen (first name probably Jirka Vilhelm born 1875) from Finland. They had two daughters: Dora (?) and Greta (?), born about 1907. Last known address (about 1921): 2819 McGee str., Berkeley, CF, USA.

A little information for you:

From the 1910 US Census in San Francisco, CA:
Eli T. Turville, 42, and his wife Jessie, 41 (perhaps should be 31 given later records).  They'd been married 14 years and had no children (alive or dead).  His profession is listed as agent with a newspaper.

From the 1920 US Census in Vacaville, Solano, CA:
Eli Turville, 53, a farmer, immigrated from England in 1886, a naturalized citizen (1888).  His wife Jessie, 45, immigrated from Sweden in 1888.

From the 1930 US Census, again in Vacaville, CA:
Eli Turville, 63 and his wife Jessie, 54.  Married at the ages of 28 and 19.  He's a farmer on a fruit farm.  Immigration dates are 1887 (him) and 1893 (her).

The California Death Index 1940-1997 shows an Eli Turville b. 1 Jan 1861/d. 26 Feb 1941
I don't (with a quick search) find a death record for Jessie.

Now, for Emmy Ottilia Vilhelmina:

Emmy Lundren 32 (single)
d. Greta 2
Arrived in New York 1904 on the Hellig Olav from Christiana.  She came, as you said, from Södertälje.  Interestingly, the document indicates that the passage was paid by John Wilhelm Kylkinen, whom she's going to see in Brooklyn.  She's never been in the US before.

In the 1910 US Census, the family is in Berkeley, CA (perhaps Ward St.?).  The names are a little different than in the 1920 census, but it's surely the right family:
William T. Kylkinen 32 (born in Sweden-- surely incorrect)
Emma 38 (born in Sweden)
Gretna 8 (born in Sweden)
Meta 4 (born in New York)
Dora 1 11/12 (born in Lousiana)
This document indicates that the husband came in 1904 and that Emma and Gret(n)a came in 1905.

In the 1920 US Census, the family is in Berkeley, CA (2819 McGee Ave.):
John W. Kylkinen 44 (born in Finland, a tailor)
Emma A. 47 (born in Sweden)
d. Greta W. 18 (born in Sweden, a bill clerk)
d. Martha F. 14 (born in New York)
d. Dora H. 11 (born in Lousiana)
This record indicates that John came to the US in 1903, and that Emma and Greta came in 1904.

In the 1930 US Census is the following:
Martha S. Kylkinen, boarder at the YWCA Blue Triangle Club in Oakland City, CA.  She's 24, born in New York.  Father's birthplace is Finland; mother's is Scotland (again, easy to get misinformation).

There's a draft card for John Wiljam Kylkinen, b. 2 July 1875, Humboldt, CA.  The registration date is 12 Sept 1918.

From the California Death Index, 1940-1997:
Greta Wilhelmina Gordon (nee Kylkinen; mother's maiden name Lundgren) b. 9 June 1901/d. 9 Feb 1994 in Alameda, CA

Sarah
