Can you look up John Anderson born September 20, 1880 (possibly in city of Udelvalla) and immigrated to United States in 1903/04 (dates are according to 1910 and 1930 US census records). Would like to know date he left Sweden, and where he was from, etc.

Thanks,
Debbie

Here are two interesting hits from the Emigranten CD:

Name: JOHAN M ANDERSSON
Age: 23
Parish: UDDEVALLA
County: O (Göteborgs och Bohus)
Port: GÖTEBORG
Date: 1904-01-15
Destination: MOLINE ILL
Fellows: NEJ (Alone)
Source code: 75:31:53001

Name: JOHAN A ANDERSSON
Age: 22
Parish: LANE RYR
County: O (UDDEVALLA)
Port: GÖTEBORG
Date: 1903-09-02
Destination: COOKS RUNN
Fellows: NEJ (Alone)
Source code: 74:227:40871

The last one looks interesting, I think. Perhaps he is the Johan Albin born September 1880 in Lane-Ryr parish.

Maybe someone can check the Emibas CD?

The second one is probably the same man that Bo gave you a lot of information about earlier

Look  here
where you can see that he was born September 29 1880 (not September 20) by Andreas and Maria

CD Emibas has information about a lot of emigrants, gathered from Church books, but it is not complete and the man mentioned above, with information from CD Emigranten, is not found on CD Emibas

Can you tell us a little bit more about John Anderson. Where did he live in US and some names from his family.
That can make it easier to track him back to Sweden

Here's what I know about John Albin Anderson...He lived in Ansonia, Connecticut (New Haven County). He first appears in the 1910 census (recorded April 1910) at age 29 living in a boarding house in Ansonia, Conn. He does not appear in the 1909 city directory of Ansonia, so I place his move to Ansonia sometime between 1909 and April of 1910. The 1910 census lists his date of immigration as 1903, so he was living somewhere else in the U.S. between 1903 and 1910.

His marriage license (1917) lists his father as John Anderson and his mother as Maria Anderson. His WWI draft registation card (1918) lists his birthdate as Sep 20, 1880.  In 1936 he applied for a social security account number. On the application he listed his father as Andrew and his mother as Mary. On his WWII draft registration (1942) at age 61 his residence was Ansonia, Conn. He listed his birthdate as Sep 20, 1880 and his birthplace as Udevalla, Sweden.

He had the following children: Anna, John, Carl Edmond, William and another daughter whose name I don't know.

According to older family members, John Albin Anderson came to the U.S. with his brothers. They went to where the coal mines were. The brothers later returned to Sweden. The John Albin from Lane Ryr who immigrated in 1903 with a destination of Cook's Run, PA fits this story. Cook's Run, PA was a mining town near Westport, PA. From the Ellis Island passenger lists I found Axel Edwin Anderson (age 28) on the same ship (campania) as John Albin Anderson. The ship arrived in NY on 12 Sep 1903. John (Johan) was listed as going to join his brother A. Anderson in Cooks Run, PA. Axel was listed as going to join Aron Anderson in Cooks Run, PA. I'm not sure how John Albin ended up in Ansonia, Conn.

On the WW1 draft card his name is written John Albert Anderson (not Albin), how about the other documents?

In the Lane-Ryr HFL AI:9 1879-1893 page 134 (GID 760.4.62400) at Norrmanneröd, you can see that Johan Albin born 1880 and Axel Edvin born 1875 had a brother Aron Hilmer born 1870.

This is probably Aron in Emigranten CD:

Name: ARON ANDERSSON
Age: 31
Parish: LANE RYR
County: O (Göteborgs o Bohus)
Port: GÖTEBORG
Date: 1902-08-29
Destination: COOKS RUN PA
Fellows: NEJ (Alone)
Source code: 70:684:30437

This might be him also in 1894:

Name: ARON ANDERSSON
Age: 26
Parish: LANE RYR
County: O (Göteborgs o Bohus)
Port: GÖTEBORG
Date: 1894-02-20
Destination: MARINETTE WIS
Fellows: NEJ (Alone)
Source code: 53:110:59252

But it might be a different person, the name is not that unusual.

Mats,

He is listed as John Anderson on his marriage license. The marriage license is completely typed including the lines that read Signed with a typed name next to them. The only handwritten signature is that of the registrar next to text the foregoing is a true copy.

On his Social Security account application he's listed as John Albin Anderson and signed his full name John Albin Anderson.

On his WWI draft card he is listed as John Albert Anderson and signed John A. Anderson. I know this is the same John Anderson though because his wife's name (Dora) is correct.

On his WWII draft card he is listed as John Albin Anderson and signed his full name John Albin Anderson. His signature matches the one on his social security card.

Debbie
