Why not try this guy:

PERSSON, ALEXANDER JOHAN PET., born 1865 Jan.12 in Döderhult, Kalmar county, emigrated 1884 May 30 from Djurshult in Döderhult.

Thanks, Elisabeth.

I have new information.

1. Othilda Henrietta Henricksson was born 23 Jan. 1870 in Mörarp, Malmöhus.

2. There was a Johannes Linden b. 1865 in the 1890 Malmöhus census.

Because my Johann and Othilda were married 29 June 1889 in Sweden, and because Othilda and this Johannes were both found in Malmöhus near this time, it is possible that the above Johannes was my Johann (b. 12 Jan. 1865).

Outside of that census index entry, though, I have no other information such as parents, parish of birth or marriage, etc.  Any help in these matters would be appreciated.  Perhaps someone has access to the actual census?

Hi Michael,

I will probably go to the Lunch church archives tomorrow, and if I have some time left I will see if I can find anything further about your relatives.

Hi, Elisabeth.

I was wrong about the emigration and marriage dates.  In fact, my Johann Alexander LINDEN did emigrate in 1884.

Many LINDEN families in Illinois and elsewhere in the US had changed their names from some other name after coming here (PETERSEN [sp?], ANDERSON, LANDSBERG, etc.).

Unfortunately, I've found several Johanns and Alexanders, all born in Sweden on 12 Jan. 1865, who could be candidates:

1. Your own Alexander Johan Pet. PERSSON, of Kalmar
2. Johan PEHRSSON, of Kopparberg
3. Johannes PEHRSSON, of Norrbotten
4. Jöns PERSSON, of Helsingborgs, Malmöhus
5. Hans PERSSON, of Malmö, Malmöhus
6. John SWENSSON, of Älvsborg

Of all these, your Alexander Johan looks the best, though I wish he wouldn't spell his name backwards like that :-)  Do you have any further information about his emigration?
