I am looking for information on my great-grandparents who immigrated to Pomeroy,Pocahontas,Iowa from Sweden(I believe from Stockholm) in late 1893,early 1894. My great-grandfathers name is Alfred Pettersson, his wife is Johanna Matilda. Her mother came with them, her name is Anna Swanson. Alfred was born in 1855 in Sweden, Johanna was born in 1861 in Sweden, Anna was born in 1824 in Sweden. They would have had 3 children with them, Arvid, Carl Hartvig(b:1887), and Alveda. Another daughter I have been told was born on the way over her name is Augusta (b:2-1894). I have a trunk that they brought with them that has the year A.D. 1832 painted on it(in pink paint), also Pomeroy,N.A. and Alfred Pettersson in black paint. The trunk is green paint. It is approx. 3 feet x 2 feet with iron bands with a flat top. They did settle in Pomeroy, Iowa. Alfred and Johanna are buried in the cemetery of the Elfsborg Luthern Church. Anna is buried in the Swedish Mission Bethany Cemetery (in the same area). Anna had a sister named Selma who lived here and eventually moved to California.
