Hi Christopher,

In Emigranten I found a W L Hansson, 33 years old.
From Göteborgs- & Bohus län. He went out from Göteborg, 1879, Aug. 1, Destination: Boston.
Maybe he change the surname when he came to Boston, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom?
It was rather common to change surname around 1870-1890.

Hi Sam,
Thank you for answering my question.
I do have the marriage certificate of William Lorenz Sandin. He changed his christian name to Lauwrence, but kept his surname.
All I know about him is he was a sailor on merchant ships, and his approximative birth date. I have traced down all his children and so and so. I thought he came from Oskarshamn's area : öland, so I have asked the Archives in Vadstena and they have nothing about him ?  Where do you think I may ask for him ?
Thanks again.
Christopher

Hi Sam,
Thank for your visit to the Navigation museum in Oskarshamn. You'll find there traces of an Olof Fredrick Sandin who was a well known figure of the Oskarshamn's seamen's world. But unfortunately, I have not linked this branch to my family.
Is there a place in Sweden collecting the informations about the people who emigrated overseas ?
Have a good day;
Christopher

Hi Christopher,

In the database of PLF, I found that Olof Fredrik Sandin was born in Högby, Öland, 1845, July 5.

He married Charlotta Wilhelmina Mathilda Hultgren 1869, Dec. 29 and they got at least five children in Oskarshamn.

1870, Nov. 29, Ernst Hjalmar Leonard
1875, July, 1, Anna Karolina
1877, July, 19, Gustav Olof Walfrid
1879, June, 30, Georg Fredrik Isidor
1882, Dec., 28, Elsa Elisabet

I shall go to the museum, maybe already tomorrow.

Regards

Sam

HI Sam,
Do not waste your time with Olof Fredrick's branch, I know all of it. If you want, try to hunt for William Lorenz...
Hope you'll come out with something.
Take care
Christopher
