Does anyone know anything about Sven Gunnar Göransson (Goransson, US spelling), who emigrated to Illinois in 1909.
Most likely Chicago.
He apparently lived for a while in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (1930) with his wife Anna (Dahl).  She died and he much later married
a Lottie (Rylander) and lived again in Chicago.

There is more information on the actual application form, which I found on Ancestry.com. For example, he was single and signed this form 5 June 1917. He was a mechanical engineer and so forth.

Thanks for all the info, people.  In the meantime, I had found the Ellis Island entry.
However, no matter where and how I look, I cannot find his death in the USA.  This is
extremely weird, since being an engineer, he must have had a Social Security number.
He lived and worked there for years and years.  Any ideas why there is no SSDI entry?

1. Perhaps he died before the computerization of the Social Security Death Index. Most entries are from about 1962 and later.

2. Perhaps he worked for the railroad, which has its own retirement system. (Perhaps even an engineer might work for the railroad.)

3. Perhaps no one told the Social Security Administration that he had died.

Those are just some thoughts.
