Help in translation of birth record

I am looking at a birth record for Stig Henry Andersson, born 17 Oct 1937, in Undenas, to Gustaf Henry Nathanael Anderson, 1913-1995, and Ester Maria Johansson, 1916-1987.  It seems that they were not married at the time, but the note to the right may indicate that they did get married after the birth.  I cannot find any marriage records for them in Tived or Undenas; but the records may not be complete.  Also, another family tree on ancestry has him as the father of Karl Gosta Holm, 23 May 1936, born in Tived; but I can’t find a birth record for him. 


There is a note under Stig Henry’s name which I’m guessing means the father is known, but I don’t see this word in my Swedish-English dictionary.  Also, I cannot read the note to the right.

Is it the word "trolovningsbarn" that you don't find? It means espousal child and the whole paragraph says that Gustaf Henry Nathanael Andersson is the father. Ester Maria lived with her parents in Tived (R, T) AIIa:3 (1921-1937) Bild 2190 / sid 207 (AID: v146761.b2190.s207, NAD: SE/ULA/11554). Her parents moved 1936-06-20 to Undenäs (R) AIIa:6 (1913-1938) Bild 920 / sid 884 (AID: v246207.b920.s884, NAD: SE/GLA/13601) but Ester Maria remained in Svenstorp until she 1936-11-16 moved to Undevi on page 236 in Tived (R, T) AIIa:3, and on the very same day Gustaf Henry also moved there. They joined her parents in Undenäs on 1937-11-19 and were married on 1938-02-19 according to the note on page 884. The marriage most probably happened in Undenäs, but as the book is under secretess it is not available online.

"Espousal child" is a concept one won'ẗ find in an English dictionary and maybe not the best translation of "trolovningsbarn".

The Swedish/Scandinavian "trolovning" custom has no exact equivalent in the Anglo-American world, although close to "engagement" or "betrothal". "Betrothal child" is a more frequent (and probably better) translation. Basically the trolovning was a civil marriage agreement between two families and as such a pre-Christian custom. The trolovning was considered judicially equal to the Christian (church) marriage till 1734, when marriage became compulsory. But even after 1734, children conceived and born during the trolovning were regarded as children born in wedlock and were thus their father's heirs (this changed in 1917: betrothal children still inherited their father, but not his relatives). This was changed anew in 1970 and from then on Swedish children are full heirs to their biological (or adoptive) parents/families.
