Attached is an image from a birth and baptism record.  I know the witnesses are Nils and Hans Olsson, but what is Nils title, what are the words after their names, and in the notes, I think the first part is "The midwife gave....", but can't determine the rest.  Also, what does "28, 2, 2 year" refer to?

I appreciate any help, trying to learn, but has been slow for me.

Hello Steve,

This is about an emergency baptism (nöddop). The most correct transcripts can be delivered if we get the source information including parish, volume, period and page.

To get the math right we look at

Nils Dahlström b 1855
Boel Olsdotter b 1860
Marriage in 1882
Their first child b 1882
Karl Rudolf b 1884

The explanation of the figures is that the first figure 28 is the age of the husband, the second figure 2 - the number of years since their first born child was born (or as Karl Rudolf is the second child the figure could have meant this), the third figure 2 - the number of years since their marriage.

Thank you so much, Anti!  This is so interesting and helpful. My wife and I are coming to Sweden in March and are trying to learn as much about her family as we can so we can make the most of our time there. Carl Rudolf is her great grandfather.  When he came to the U.S., Carl took the name Sjölin, after the family he grew up with. Sjölin is my wife's maiden name.
