Lundberg / Lundberg

Here is another Lundberg researcher : I'd like to find more about one of my ancestor Jacob Lundberg (born 1770 - death 03/07/1839)or his family. Jacob was a blacksmith at Isgärde on Öland and he is mentioned in the book I found in a shop on Öland : 'Glömminge - en ölandssocken förr och nu' from Bertil Palm on p. 220. He was married on 06/12/1792 with Sara Larsdotter (22/10/1756, Hjerpestad, Löt). There is a note where he is also named Jacob Jonsson.

Jan,

Thanks for the tip, indeed I found enough useful background-material by googling frigat/fregate eugenie. I think in spite of it was a quite hard expedition it must have been a privilege for my great great grandfather's father Olaus Palm Lundberg to sail with the Eugenie as båtsman. Should it have been obligatory or voluntary ?

My great great grandfather Johan Alfred Olsson, born 03/12/1854 in Isgärde (Glömminge, Öland) arrived as emigrant in Antwerp (Belgium) on 09/08/1881. His parents were Olaus Palm Lundberg (born 11/03/1827) and Anna Maria Olsdotter (born 22/02/1823). My purpose is to make a family album with tree, the emigration story, illustrated with old maps (of Öland), pictures, documents,... I also discovered on the forum that his father, Olaus Palm Lundberg, was a båtsman on the Eugenié fregat trip around the world  of 1851-1853.
I'd like to find out more about his family and ancestors, the place he lived, the reason of emigration and why to Antwerp, which boat he took to Belgium and the route, about the Eugenié fregatten, ... This summer I plan to be on Öland for a few days. Where should I go to to complete the information ? Many thanks in advance for any little help.
