Berith: The mail message did not go through.
If you have information that this Johan August Andersson born 1856 went to America between 1877 and 1879 and had parents or foster parents with the name of Nils  and Margaretta then I would be interested in having more information about him.He also changed his name in America and married in San Diego, California State, USA in 1889.
Thanks very much for your help.

In an 1880 bouppteckning I found the name of a person who was to be the legal authority, in Sweden, for Jonas August, a son of the deceased. Jonas lived in America at the time the inventory was taken.

Would the person, with the authority, be required to file with the Swedish court, copies of the letters and documents he sent, and received, from Jonas August?

These letters and documents would be related to the inventory or anything Jonas August was to receive from his father's estate.

I am going to get the parish film and follow the 1876 Johan to find more about him.
Thank you for your help.

Johan August Andersson born December 1856 or 1876. He had put his name and birth date in the front of a Swedish book,Lärobok i Geografi för Folkskolan printed in 1885.
The date of birth clearly said 18_6. It looked like 1856 or 1976.
Under this he has written 1876-1887.
Under this he has subtracted 1876 from 1887 and put 11.

It may mean he was 11 years old when he used this school book.
On page 2 he wrote, Johan August Andersson, 1887 Eskilstuna i december 12.

Can someone help me to find out if this Johan August was born in Eskiltuna and who his parents were and did he go to the USA? This book was given to me by people in Oregon State, USA.

I have an old Swedish geograhy book. Inside is the name Johan August Anderson born 8 December 18_6.
This may be 1856 or 1846. The one number is very difficult to read.
Written on another page is 1887,Eskilstuna.

I would like to know if Eskilstuna is a city or smaller place and what parish and Lan I should use to place a question about this person.

The title of the book is Lärbok I Geografi för Folkskolan printed 1885
Thank you

Elisabeth: I have arrived home from Vancouver.I found 2 death registrations on film in the Vancouver library and two death notices in the Vancouver Province a Vancouver newspaper film for 1943 and 1977.

This is some of the information I found. I will try and scan copies of the registrations to you.

Alda Klinteberg was the wife of Carl Henrick. Their son Max Sven signed Alda's death registration. He was the informant. He provided the information for the registration.

Alda Elizabeth's surname, before she married, was Alda Elisabeth Wikbald, born in Finland. Her father was John Garndstrom born in Finland. Her mother's name was not known by Max.

The newspaper said that Alda had 2 sisters, Karen and Berthe both in Finland.
She had several nieces and nephews in Sweden and Finland.

I think Max Sven Klinteberg is the Klinteberg listed in the Vancouver telephone book. He is the only Klinteberg listed . The listing says M.S. Klinteberg. I will email you his complete address.

11
Elizabeth: I have a scanner and I will also use email.
Is your father's mum alive? I am adopted and have had great joy from finding my two birth families.
Min första moder är 91 är gammal.Hon bor i Vancouver.(I am slowly learning some Swedish.)

12
Elizabeth: I will be in Vancouver July 21-July 24.
I will go to the library and find Carl Erik's death registration on microfilm. This should tell if he was married and who gave the information. The person who gave the information may be a relative. I will copy all the information for you.
Go to, Genforum, on the internet. It is free but you have to give them your name and email address etc.. Then you receive a I.D. number.
Click on 2 names,Canada and British Columbia, and post a message on each.

Your English is very good.Lycka till!

Eva: Have you received information about Emma Karstrand in Courtenay B.C.? I am going to Vancouver about the 24 of July and could look for some information in the library there. They have
directories of most places in B.C. which list
the people for many years.
About what year was Emma in Courtney?

B.Nilsson: There were several units in a regiment.
Each unit had a list of the people in the unit. This was the unit's strength.
When a person moved from one unit to another their names were crossed off the list. They were put on the list of the unit they moved to.

There may be other meanings but this is what my husband knows.

Was it the custom in 1870 to receive a bible as a gift when you were confirmed and made your first communion?
Who would give this gift? Was it given by the priest, the parents or Godparents?

Our family has a Swedish bible. Inside it says: To Jonas August Nilsson born Sept.15,1855, first communion July 1870 in Ukna church. Lilla Stjälkhammar

I will try and find the history book. It sometimes tell how old a person is and where he came from. It also tells about his family. The books usually tell about the towns and the people who lived on the farms nearby.
I will try and find a different email address for the archives..

sabreg@sk.sympatico.ca

There are two provincial archive locations. Regina
keeps the records for the southern part of the province and Saskatoon keeps the records for the northern part. I have only received copies from the Saskatoon archives. Let me know if you are able to get in contact.
Have you had any information from a local history book written about the area of Wroxton? I could try and find one in our library here in Calgary.

Sam:Tusen tack.Is Nora a parish in Valdemarmsvik or is it in Västernorrland or Västermanland?
I would like to find out if these people had children and also check to see if my grandfather Johan August Andersson, was born May 15,1855 in Valdemarsvik or maybe lived there before he left for USA about 1876-1878.The book Cradled in Sweden says that there are no parish registers before 1881 and no clerical survey record. Have you any suggestions how I could find out this information about August?
The family I met in USA this summer said that my grandparents August and Charlotta knew each other in Sweden before they married in USA. They did not like each other in Sweden! Because Charlotta had a sister(Pihl) and an aunt(Hedin)in Valdemarsvik I thought I should search for August there.

Gina was Gus's wife and in 1951 when they first appeared in the directory she was listed as Christine after that she was listed as Gina.
In 1971 she was listed as Gina(widow of Gus)
In 1974 there is only a G. Gustafson in Sunnyside

A Lillian Gustafson, teacher, lived at 123 Taylor for many years. 1952- 1997. After 1997 no Gustafson was listed as living at 123 Taylor.
Lillian may have been daughter. Before becoming a teacher she was a stenographer.
