Bo - Thank you very much. I was also sent an email from Sven-Erik Johansson from the Kråken.se site. He directed me toward it but I cannot seem to get it to open in my browsers. Have tried several. Thank you for translating it for me showing me Mårten Mårtensson's parents. I have found a cousin here in the US. We have Mårten ERiksson as a common ancestor. I am very happy to have found all this information. My oldest son is Jonathan. I did not know that I had a Jonathan in my family when we named him. Fun. Thank you, again.

Good morning. I am hoping someone here can help me again. I have traced my family back to Mårten Mårtensson, born 15 Sept 1747, probably in Sunnansjö. I THINK that I have found his record on page 60 of the Sunnansjö Husförhör 1806 - 1816, GID Number: 2012.37.105900, Volume: AI:7. His son, Jonathan Martenson, born 1796, I know is my fourth great-grandfather, and he is on that page, too. What I don't know is who Marten's father and mother are. I cannot figure out how to go back farther and find that out. Can anyone also tell me on that page why Jonathan was moved from underneath Marten to his own section? Thank you for your help!

Springer / Springer
« skrivet: 2012-08-13, 20:19 »
I hope it is ok for me to write my question in English.

Per, in response to your message of: Postat måndagen 14 juni 2010 - 06:42

Magnus Wilhelm Springer is my fourth great grandfather. My mm ff fm. His daughter, Maria Brita Wilhelmina Springer had an illegitimate son, Bror Carl Sprnger, who emmigrated to the US. Maria died young, about age 42.

You said that there are descendents of Magnus Wilhelm Springer still in Harnosand? I would love to meet them or talk to them. Perhaps someone has a story about that situation.

Thank you very much and sorry I have no Swedish.

Thank you very much, Eva. I don't know how you found that. But that page is full of information on some of the other family members, too, when I look carefully.

Thanks much!!!

I have one more question about Gustava Ersdotter from above. The last time I see her with her family in Sunnansjö, Nordmaling, Västerbotten is GID Number:    2012.32.68700
Volume: AI:14B Roll/Fiche Number: HA-63 Page Number: 518. She moved to Sunnsvall and married Bror Carl Springer and emigrated to the US.

My grandmother (Gustava's granddaughter) remembers her grandmother talking about one of her sisters who moved to the US, but they never found her. Is is possible to figure out which of her sisters also emigrated? That Household examination that I cited shows Gustava leaving for Sunnsvall (I think) but none of the others have any indication.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

Greetings - My GGGF (Bror Carl Springer) was born in Härnösand in 1850, to Maria Brita Wilhelmina Springer, illegitimate. That town was her parents home. However, until nearly the birth of her son she lived in Skön as a maid and is listed in the household examination for Tunaby. Here is the GID 2077.31.2300, Volume:   AI:5 Roll/Fiche Number:GH-2696 Page Number:27. She is at the very bottom of the page. I cannot find where Tunaby is, in Skön, if it still exists, and I cannot really read the name of the family. Family legend (from my grandmother, who heard it from Bror Carl and his wife) is that the Springers were from nobility. Well, since Bror was illegitimate, and Maria's dad was a shoemaker, I am pretty sure that it wasn't HER family, so maybe his unknown father was from the family she worked for in Tunaby. Is there any way of finding out if there was nobility in Tunaby, Skön, wherever that is, in 1850-ish? Is there any way of finding out if she paid a fine in Skön or Härnösand for having an illegitimate baby and if there was a man who paid a similar fine? I am going to paste this to another forum, too, just to cover my bases. Thanks so much in advance!

General questions / Court records?
« skrivet: 2011-05-28, 18:12 »
My Gr-Gr-Grandfather, Bror Carl Springert, Oct 12, 1850, Härnösand, Vasternorrland, was illegitimate. I have been told the only real way to find out his father, since he was not mentioned in the church records, is if there is a court case. His mother, Maria Brita Springert, lived in Skön until the time of his birth. Is there any way to see court records for either of those two districts for that time period?

Thanks.

Chris -

Thanks again! BC Springer ended up being a logger and farmer in America!  Johan Magnus was his uncle (mother's brother).

Thank you very much.

Mattias and Chris -

You both mention that Maria Springert worked in Tunby b/t 1843 and 1850. I see the page that you mention. On that page are several different categories of people, it seems. Could you tell me what the different categories are? Are they the same household? Are they different types of workers? In the middle of the page there is a Carl Anton Jensen. He seems to come from the same area as Maria. Could you tell me what the words are between his name and his moving in and moving out days? I wonder if he might have been the namesake for my Great-Great Grandfather? How would I say that in Swedish? Mor-Mor-Far-Far? (Bror Carl is my mother's mother's father's father.)

Thanks guys....

Hi there -
Sorry for the English, but I have a question about Skön.

My ancestor, Bror Carl Springert was born to Maria Brita Springert (illegitimate) on 12 October 1850 in Härnösand. However, apparently until shortly before he was born, she was living in Tunby, Skön and working as a maid on an estate. In 1862, she moved back to Skön until she died in 1869.

The family story is that his father was nobility. Is there any way to find out if a fine was paid to the parish in Skön or if there was a court order for support or anything?

Thank you in advance.

Oh my GOODNESS. You people are amazing! This is beyond fantastic. Thank you so much!!! (Seriously, it is quite fun to go to bed with lots of questions and wake up with all these answers!) We have known NOTHING about my great-great grandparents. This is fabulous. Don't worry, I will be back with more questions, probably.

I am pretty good with US Genealogy, if y'all have any questions here.....

Tack

My great great grandmother was born in Nordmaling in 1854, and I think I have found the birth record.

Is it acceptable to ask questions in English on this thread? (There is no hope of me asking it in Swedish).

It is GID 2012.51.79600

Her name was Gustava Erikson, 31 Jan 1854. The record I believe to be hers is the top record on the right hand page (image 264 of 322). I do not know who her family was and I cannot find them in the Household examination book.

Thanks in advance for any help!

In reading some of these posts, I ran across someone that mentioned a CD that had information about seamen/captains?

Allegedly, my ancestor, Bror Carl Springert, b 12 Oct 1850 in Härnösand, Vasternorrland, was a sea captain. I am wondering if there is a resource to look that up?

Charles Bernard Springer was born Bror Carl Springert on 12 Oct 1850 in Härnösand, Vasternorrland. I believe he is illegitimate. I have seen his birth record from the parish records, but, of course, I cannot translate it. His mother was Maria Britta Wilhelmina. Apparently he and his mother moved to Sundsvall, but I can't find them. Any idea how to figure out who his father was?

He married abt 1978 to Gustava Erikson who was born 31 Jan 1854 in Sunnansjo, Normadling, Vasterbotten. I have seen what I believe is her birth record, too, but I cannot tell who her parents were.

Can anyone translate those two birth records for me? And tell me who their parents were?

Thank you!
Kimberly
