I am currently looking for a family in Overtornea. Johan Abram Hansson Ulkuniemi born 1815 in Sodankyla. He was married to a Maria Margareta born June 5, 1818 in Overtornea. They had a daughter, Rosinda born 1843. I found them in the Church books for Sodankyla and according to them the family came back in 1844. Can someone help me find the family in Overtornea. Thanks.

Can someone help me find a Petter Anders Lantto (born 1849 Ylitornio) in the Pajala Church books. Preferably after 1886. I have checked the 1890 census and cant find him anywhere. According to a online family tree, he was married to a Stina Kaisa Pehrsdotter Kurvander born 1855 in Pajala and they had a child, Henrik Arvid born 1886 in Pajala. According to the tree they were in the Aareavaara area. They could also be located in the Kolari area. I do not have access to the swedish records so if you could post an image it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Ok, After searching the net some more I believe I have found her in a tree. According to this tree she is from Kivijarvi in Korpilompolo. Can anyone confirm? Thanks again.

Hello all! I have another one. I am now trying to track down a Brita AnnaGretasdotter born 8-8-1830 I belive in Kuusijarvi?? She is the wife of Erik Henriksson Keskitalo born May 12th 1830 in Ruokojarvi. They were married in 1851 in Overtornea. I was looking at the marriage record and it looks like she is from Kusijarvi? It could also be Kurajarvi. I am not sure. Can someone check the births for Overtornea. I really appreciate it.

Can someone help me track down a Stina Caisa Davidsdotter Liimakaa born 30 Dec 1837 in Matarengi Finska. I have looked thru the church books and have not been able to track her down. She married Olof Johansson Harri and later moved to Norway. Thanks for any help.

Can someone help me with this image. It is in the Jukkasjarvi Household Examination records. A1:7 Years 1871-1880. On Page 142. Down in the middle of the page is a Anders Vilhelm born 8/22/1845. Off to the right in one of the columns it says something happen in 1874. What is it saying happened?

Can someone find the Url address for the Tornio Rippikirja 1891-1900. I have tried everything. I cannot get it to load. I am trying to find Ida Jakobina Stalnacke and Arvid Mattinen. In the 1881-1890 rippikirja they are on side 184. Thanks for any help.

Hello all, I am looking for a Johanna Alexandra (Alexandria) Ruona. I unfortunately do not have much information to go on, except she was born in Sweden around 1854. She came to America and settled in Houghton, Michigan. She was married to a Petter Olof Ephraimsson Lanto who was born in Norway. They were married in 1877 in Michigan and had a child named John Petter Lanto. According to the Familysearch.org she also went by Sandra. I have tried searching the internet with no clues as to where she was from. Can anyone help find her?

Can someone help me find this person. I know I have seen the Blankström name before but now I can't seem to locate it anywhere. I am looking for a Johan Blankström who was married to a Anna Greta Ericsdotter Färdig. They were married Nov 17 1838 in Overtornea, Norrbotten, Sweden. I am posting in this forum because I am not sure where he is from. In the marriage record it looks like it says Alkula which is part of Hietaniemi but I can't find him in the books. Thanks for any help.

Thank you everybody. This seems to be the correct family. So they changed their name to Anttila. Birgitta, I use that website very often and am glad you posted this link. I am trying to track down another ancestor of mine. Her name was Eva Caisa Zachariasdotter Stalnacke. According to the Hiski project, she married a Henrik Pehrsson Kardinen from Svenska Pajala. They married Mar 21, 1847 in Turtola parish. I cannot seem to find them in the Turtola parish and was wondering if someone might be able to find them in the Pajala parish.

Stefan Thank you so much I was almost about to give up. I did find his children's birth records so I knew he was still in Tornio but nothing was telling me when he was born or where he came from. I will take a look at the Pitea records next time I go to the Library. Thanks again.

I am trying to find out where one of my ancestors went. She was born in Nedertornea, Finland. Her name is Eva Maria Johansdotter Kallioniemi f. 6.1.1838 in Arpela. According to the Finnish Parish records, she was married to a Erik Abram Johanson on 28.8.1859 in Tornio or Tornea Stad. On the marriage record it says he is a Swedish Subject. I was thinking maybe someone can help me find them in the 1870 census so I know where they went. Thanks for any help.

Hello Kaarina. I am not a member so I cannot view those pages. I did find a way around it. I was able to view the Rippikirja 1881-1890 and 1891-1900 for Ylitornio and found August Stalnacke in both but I did not see any children. I tried to send you an e-mail asking if you could get an image of Aliina's birth from the Syntyneet records. I see they are available for the year Aliina was born. I really appreciate your help. Maybe you could also send me the image for the Lastenkirja record you posted. Did that show Aliina?

Can anyone help me with some information regarding another possible relative of mine. Unfortunately i am having a hard time with this one. Her name was Aliina Stalnacke. She was born in July 4, 1886 in Ylitornio. Supposedly her father was August Stalnacke and Mother Sarah ?? don't know her last name. I do have a August Stalnacke in my tree from Ylitornio but I don't know if it is the same August. Aliina came to the United states and married a Victor Suorsa b. 1880 Säräisniemi and died in 1906 in Houghton Michigan. According to a website Aliina passed away Jan 12, 1948 in Michigan. This is all the information that I have. Thanks for any help

I am looking for information on a Petter Zachariasson Stalnacke. He was born May 5, 1858 in the Hietaniemi parish to Zacharias Zachariasson Stalnacke and Eva Karolina Isaacsdtr. Nikinmaa. I am trying to find information on when he was married and when he came to the United States. According to my sources he married Marie Evelina Johansdotter Kero. According to the 1890 Census his father Zacharias is located in the Nedertornea Haparanda Parish, that is why I am posting in this forum.

I was wondering if someone could help me find the Birth record for Erik Jönsson Stålnacke f. 1745 in Svappavaara, Jukkasjärvi. Parents Jöns Ersson Stalnacke f. 1720 and Maria Gabrielsdotter ? If possible could the parents be found in the Household Examinations? If so could someone attach a picture of the Family for me. Can someone help me with a birth Record. I am not completely familiar with the teminology used in the Parish Records just yet. I looked up a birth for one of my Ancestors named Johan Petter Viippola b. July 22, 1842 in Niemi's, Hietaniemi. I found the record in AD Online under Hietaniemi C:3 födelse- och dopbok (1831-1861) Bild 35. If anyone can help me read what it says about his Father I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I am trying to find more information on Lena Stina Aronsdotter Lantto b. 3 Nov 1848 in Tengelio Finland to Aron Henriksson Heikka (Lantto) and Maria Adamsdotter Lantto. Lena Stina married a Johan Petter Aronsson Wiippola in Hietaniemi, Sweden. They had 4 Children: Laura, Kaisa, Nancy, and Aina.
I have information that Lena and Johan immigrated to the United States with the Children, but I can't find out where they went. It says that Johan came from the United States alone, leaving the wife and Children in the US. Can anyone help me find where they went to in the US so I might be able to Track down their relatives.

I am trying to find information on a person that was born in Raahe - Brahestad. I have tried to find information with the Finnish Records but haven't been able to get anything definite yet. After looking at the location of Raahe I figured that since it is near the Border between Finland and Sweden there might be records on the Swedish Side.
The Person I am doing research on is Victor Aulin b. Mar 22, 1882 to Mother: Margareta Myllylä b. Jun 30, 1858 d. Feb 11, 1930
Most of the people I have talked to cannot give me an answer on the Father. I have been told that he was born out of wedlock and they would only list the father's last name. Victor immigrated to the United States in 1900 according to the 1910 Census. He settled in Astoria Oregon and got married to Hilda M Hyyppa in 1905. Victor had a 2 children with Hilda, Victor Ension Aulin and Sylvia Aulin.
Victor Died in Astoria,Or Dec, 14, 1921.
I do have a little bit of experience with towns on the Border of Sweden and Finland. I have relatives that were born in Ylitornio, Finland and have found records for my Families on both sides. Also I have relatives from Norrbotten and have found records on both sides also. Do you think that I might be able to find records of Victor's birth and family in the Swedish records?

I am currently trying to find a relative named John Erickson b. sept. 21, 1854 who emigrated to the United States around 1881 and settled in Astoria, oregon with his Wife Josephina Aronsdtr. Lantto and their children. My records indicate that John was from Haparanda, Sweden. I have asked one of my sources and she came up with this person:

I have all the information on his Wife Josphina Aronsdtr. Lantto. She was from Ylitornio Finland. She was born Dec. 6, 1854 to Aron Henrikson Lantto and Maria Adamsdtr. Rahtu. The 1900 Census for Astoria,Oregon, USA States that John and Josephina were married close to 1877 which means they got married before they emigrated. This is all the information that i have about them before they came to the US. I appreciate any info. Thanks again.
