Jag blev nyfiken själv och skickade en fråga till en specialist på andra världskriget.
http://www.ww2connections.com/aboutus.html Här är hans svar.
Your question is about a Veteran of the First World War (1914-18).
Having typed that, I will do my best.
The line that you do not understand is WAGONER 54 AM. TN. CAC
Please allow me to take this, one step at a time.
Wagoner-a soldier in the US Army during the First World War assigned to a
wagon, drawn by horses or mules. The wagon is used to transport items from
one location to another. A Wagoner is not a Teamster, one who drives the
wagon. A Wagoner is one who loads, unloads & adjusts the load of the wagon
he is assigned to. He may also assist in clearing the road the wagon is
traveling on, & assist in the care & grooming of the horses or mules.
54-numerical designation of the unit in question.
AM.-ammunition
TN.-train
CAC-Coast Artillery Corps
So, Herman P. Lindbloom was assigned as a Wagoner to the 54th
Ammunition Train, Coast Artillery Corps of the A.E.F. (American Expeditionary
Force) in Europe during the First World War.
I typed 54th Ammunition Train into my search
engine & found quite a bit on the internet about the unit. Please type
54th Ammunition Train exactly as I have in this e-mail, quotes & all.
Happy Easter,
