I am looking for information on the Stenkula family in 1850 - 19??, from Malmo. First name may have been Frank or Nicolaus. This is all the information I have.
Thank you,
Kristina Brown

hallo Kristina
Please find the Family Book of Stenkula Svenska ättartavlor, 1889 at the Archive of Genealogiska Föreningen (GF) in Stockholm. There is a link to GF from this web-site. They also have a story book called Litta runt kring Stenkulorna. Don?t worry about this typical south-swedish expression. There are not to many Swedes living north of the mainroad Malmö_Ystad dividing Sweden into two equal parts, that will understand either.
In addition to that, I have info about Carl Axel Stenkula born 1856. He was a bookkeaper in Malmö with a house in Limhamn. He first married 1880 to Ida Bauer and a second marriage 1885 to Nicolina Borg, his mothers niece.
A younger generation Per Stenkula was a student colluege to me in the 1950 th in Malmö.

The Stenkula family was last presented in the Svenska Släktkalendern (Swedish Family Register) 2000, a book that is found in most major Swedish libraries and at the archives.

Dear Kurt and Elisabeth,
Thank you for your prompt replies. I am sorry I do not understand what the Svenska Släktkalendern is. Are all Swedish Families in a Register? Would I be able to find this book in the US?

Thank you for your help

The Svenska Släktkalendern (Swedish Family Register) is an old publication which comes out every 2-3 years, and has been going since 1912. It contains family histories for more than 1850 Swedish families. A list can be found here.

As I used to be the editor, I can send you copies, if you e-mail me privately and give me your ordinary postal address.

Hi!

I just want to say that I live very close to Stenkula skolan (Stenkula School)in Malmö!
Anyone who knows who the school is named after?

Mvh, Anne-Lee Wilson.

Probably after Anders Oskar Adolf Stenkula (1841-1922), who was an important man in the school history of Malmö.

Frederick Borg

I believe I am related to Axel Stenkula of Limhamn/Malmo.  Axel was a decendant of Fredrik Borg (born in 1741 or 1749) who operated a paint and dye factory in Lund.  I am also decended from Fredrik Borg.  I have in my possession a neatly typewritten 60 page manuscript, which is a history of my family.  Apparently this was written by someone named C.V. Akerman and and typed by Nils Hylten-Cavallius and Lennart Borg in Ludvika, Sweden in 1961.  It is in Swedish, which I cannot read.

Please contact me if we can be of help to each other.

Fred!

A suggestion: convert this document into a PDF-/Acrobat document. Scanning should be done to facilitate OCR and thus make it possible to convert the image document into an ASCII document. I can help with that with the proper pdf-document.

I am sure we can help you to translate the document.

My son-in-law comes from Ludvika and his parents are still living there!

Olle
