I am looking for imformation on my Grandmother's Parents
or any siblings.  My information shows her name was
Swenson, or is probably Svensson.  My Father's birth
certificate shows her name as Maltilda Hultman.  She came
from Värnamo and married my Grandfather sometime
around 1890, his name was Emil Lundgren.  My
Grandmother was born in 1865  She immigrated to Kimbro,
Texas shortly before or after her marriage. She died in
Kimbro, Texas
in 1943.

From Värnamo the following party (I haven't confirmed in the church records that it's a family, at least one of the men has the title 'dräng' i e farmhand) emigrates on 9 April 1874:

Sven Magnus Johannisson, a widower, born 22 January 1815, living at Östhorja Erlandsgård (a farm i Östhorja, Värnamo)
Johan Gustaf Svensson, born 15 November 1846
Jonas Svensson, born 24 September 1848
Johannes August Svensson, born 23 November 1851
Sven Anders Svensson, born 22 July 1854
Inga Elise Svensdotter, born 23 November 1859
Mathilda Svensdotter, born 25 May 1865

The source for this information is EMIBAS for Jönköping County ('län') which is based on the moving out records in the church records. This date only 9 people are given to leave for North America from Värnamo, the above mentioned and also two boys age 12 and 10, August Emil and Anders Petter Johansson, that are given as foster sons, but I don't know if they are with the above family as another farm is given as their residence.

According to the CD Emigranten, which is an index to the emigration contracts/passenger lists, Sven Mag(nus) Johanneson leaves from Värnamo from the port of Göteborg (Gothenburg) on 17 April 1874, with son Sven, daughters Ingar and Thilda for Redwing (no state given). They are on the same ticket, Johan Gustaf Svensson has the same destination on a separate ticket. The two Johansson boys have destination New York. No apparent signs of Jonas and Johannes August Svensson.

regards,
Eva

Red Wing is probably the city in Goodhue county, Minnesota, along the Mississippi. Lots of Swedes had this as their first destination.

I want to correct the birthdate of Mathilda.  It was February
17, 1862.  Thanks for your help, Eva and Elisabeth, but I
am looking for a different Mathilda.

There is no Mathilda born 1862 Feb.17, that emigrated from Jönköping county, according to Emibas.

Thank you again Elisabeth but all the information I have is that Matilda was born on February17, 1862 in Värnamo, Småland.  She married my Grandfather sometime between 1890 and 1892 but do not know if they married in Sweden or if she returned to Texas and then married my Grandfather.  I do know that when my Grandfather immigrated to Texas, he came into the port of Galveston, Texas.  I don't believe the Matilda listed above is my Grandmother.

Leighton:

My name is Brian Almquist and I am related to the Lundgren family. Emil Birath-Lundgren's first wife, Ida Maria Johnson (Johannesson in Sweden) was a sister to my great-grandfather, Carl Oskar Johannesson. Unlike his brothers and sisters, Carl changed his name to Almquist, whereas all the others became Johnson.

Emil and Ida Maria (she used the name Anna Maria) had four children: Robert 1884, Carl 1887, Edwin 1888, and Henning 1890. Ida Maria died in childbirth in 1890, and Emil married Matilda Swenson about 1893 or 1894. They had Mamie 1895, Martin 1898, Luther 1902, and Florence 1905.

Emil was born in 1847 in Grevback parish, Vastergotlands lan, where his father Jakob Birath was a gardener. He emigrated at the age of 23 and came to the Austin area in 1870. For the first 10 years he worked as a farmhand in Lampasas County as a farmhand, and as a railroad worker. In 1880 he bought land in Kimbro. He soon sold the Kimbro land and went to Ore City, Colorado, where he worked in the silver mines for 3 years, bringing back a considerable fortune, which he invested in a 700 acre farm at Kimbro. Matilda was born in Varnamo parish, Jonkopings lan, in 1862. I have done some genealogy work on the Birath family in Sweden, if you are interested.
