Hi Connie!
Long time no hear!
Kohkola: farmname which is coming from the familyname Kohkoinen. Kohkola is the mainfarm for Erkheikki, Juvani and Vuopio. Today it is Kaulinranta nr 18 Kohkola.
Erik Joensson, pirkkalaiset in 1590 lived at the old farm at Kylänsaari and this farm was probably called Kohkoila, cause it was the Kohkoinen familys main farm. This farm was split between his sons Henrik Eriksson (Erkheikki) and Erik Eriksson (Kohkoila). Henrik?s farm got the name Erkheikki in Kaulinranta and Erik?s farm kept the name Kohkoila also in Kaulinranta. Henrik?s son Johan Henriksson inherited the part of the Erkheikki farm which today is called Kuivakangas nr 2 Juvani (Juani=Johan) in Finland.
What I now there has been no village with the name Jova or Juvani, just the farm Juvani.
Kaulinranta: Village situated alond the eastern shore of Torne River about 80 km North of Torneå. The village used to belong to Kuivakangas but in 1604 it became a village of it?s own. The village of Kaulinranta started to be inhabited in the late 1500?s and early 1600?s.
Where you able to open that Gedcom I sent to you and if you did, was there any information that you could use? It seems that almost all notes was lost in the transport from FTM to Gedcom, are working on solving the problem!
