I am seeking translation help with the move out record of Peter Olof Olofsson and Kerstin Persdotter. I know they are moving to Markaryd. I am hoping the move out record might have some clues as to where in Markaryd they are moving. I know that Peter was a flour miller and he moved around a lot. Markaryd has missing records for this time period.

Says nothing about where in Markaryd, only tells about their knowledge in christianity, when they joined the holy communion and so on.

I'll give it a try, google translate gave some help, more or less. Not 100% sure.

Confirmed 1785 in Nöttja (refers to Per Olof Olofsson) and she(i.e. his wife) was confirmed 22 January 1795 in Pjätteryd. Flyttade 1855 till Markaryd.
They are able to read justifiable in a book, -- then hard to interpret --knowledge of Catechism weak, terms only a little,. seldom present at household examination, got the holy communion here 9 April 1854. Have had smallpox, good reputation.
I'm not sure about the last words,  listed in tax records (or voter's record) here for this year.

Just a thought - as he was a miller, the mills in Markaryd might be worth checking out. According to the place name register there were mills in Flässeryd and Köphulta (guess there might've been others too - I don't know the time scope of the register).

Thanks Anna-Carin,

I checked the entire Markaryd household record from 1871-1876. That is the next available set. Also, I checked the Markaryd death records from 1860 (next available) to as far as I thought they could live. Moving records are missing in Markaryd until 1861. I could check some of those.

Yes, that's a good idea to check mills in other parishes. Per was Kerstin's second husband. They were both millers and she moved often with both. I have mills where they had been in the past and I checked those. I will try others. Thanks for the link to the place name register.

Kerstin Persdotter was my 3rd great-grandmother. The hunt continues.

There is a mistake in the first translation of the moving out record above (Södra Ljunga BII:1 (1834-1862) Bild 152 / sid 291). The first line reads Han f. 1782 in Nöttja [He born 1782 in Nöttja], and then the birth date of the wife, not that they were confirmed those dates. They came in 1852 to Södra Ljunga-Hamneda parish from Agunnaryd.

In the clerical survey for Agunnaryd it is clearly shown that they had these birth dates (Agunnaryd AI:10 (1851-1855) Bild 136 / sid 130).

From there (probably living at Horsaberga Norrgård in Hamneda, but I did not find them there) they moved in 1856 to Markaryd.

I guessed that they might have moved again, and used the database of the Kronoberg Genealogical Society (KGF) and found them in Göteryd parish (Göteryd AI:15 (1852-1862) Bild 156 / sid 147) where it says that they came in 1858 from Markaryd to Hästberga kvarn (mill), and where Peter died 1862 April 17 (Göteryd FI:1 (1861-1871) Bild 13) of bröstsjuka ,[chest illness], at age 80.

His widow Kerstin Persdotter stayed on at Hästberga, but died there 1863 April 3 (Göteryd AI:17 (1862-1868) Bild 261 / sid 251; Göteryd FI:1 (1861-1871) Bild 17). She also died from bröstsjuka.

Oh my Goodness! You really made my day Elizabeth! Amazing!
I thank you so very much for your kindness in helping me out on this puzzle. It almost brings tears to my eyes because I truely felt I would never know where they died. I have been tracing Kerstin Persdotter with all her moves with two miller husbands for days. I can't begin to imagine all those moves.

Yes, I saw the mistake in the above translation, thanks for pointing it out. I did find them in Hamneda at Horsaberga Norrgård, but Horsaberga Norrgård was crossed out on that page. Hamneda AI:10 (1851-1856) Image 84 / page 72 (AID: v18528.b84.s72)

Maybe I should look into joining the Kronoberg Genealogical Society.

Hi Kyla, I am glad that you appreciate what I found for you. I have been working in Småland for years, so I thought that it should not be quite impossible to find your miller and his wife, as the records for the area are usually quite informative.

The KGF database is on a CD, but you are supposed to be a member of the society to buy it. The address of their English-language web site is http://genealogi-kgf.se/KGFE.html

Greetings from sunny Sweden in the early springtime!

So sorry for mistake. I'll already member of KGF and have that database, it's very easy to e-mail me for lookups, if not too many.
