I am wondering about the location of Rosenlund.  I was told of a location Rosenlund, Karlskoga, Orebro.  Now when I google it on maps the arrow points to an area on the northern tip of Lake Vanern.  But my friend says she thinks it is a section of Karlskoga in the county of Orebro. I am curious to know.

The placename and mapsearch page has a large number of places named Rosenlund, but none in Karlskoga municipality (kommun).

Wendy. Confusing, but I am sure that Rosenlund is a selection of Karlskoga. When they counted all people i Sweden in 1900 they wrote all up in books. In the book from Karlskoga Örebro county at  the bottom of the page 205 is Rosenlund and your grandfather and his mother. I send it to you by mail

Thanks Marianne!  I wonder --- I look at the map but don't see it so it must be a section.  It sounds like a pretty place, somehow makes me think of beautiful gardens. We must put this on one of our outings when I visit...someday!

If Rosenlund was a location in Karlskoga according to the parish records (or the census, as Marianne mentions), it didn't have to be a village. It could've been the name of a single farm or house, or a single block in a town type community, and in either of this cases, I think it's unlikely to be listed on a modern map. And even if the maps would include that level of detail, the name may have disappeared off the map because that precise house was torn down or renamed.

Rosenberg's 1880's gazetteer lists three different Rosenlund; the closest one is a tannery in Hardemo parish in Örebro county, but though it's the right county it's the wrong parish, so it doesn't seem to be the one you're looking for.

Wendy. Anna Carin explained it better than me. It can be a single block in Karlskoga.I think she is right

Yes, it is making more sense to me.  I wonder how you would find out what block or streets it may have been in back in 1900.  Perhaps there is a civic organization in Karlskoga that would know.  In my town we have the historical society that we can contact. Perhaps there is such an organization in Karlskoga.

Maybe someone who's familiar with SOFI can help here?

I found Rosenlund in Karlskoga listed here in the place-name register of SOFI (the Swedish Institute of Language and Verbal Tradition). But as I'm not familiar with the abbreviations and terminology in this register, I'm not sure what it says.

110;14;52;06  ---Thank you for the historical maps Johan; I am unskilled at reading them.  The first website lists these four numbers in front of Rosenlund but I am not sure what they stand for. The location of Karlskoga is 59'14' so it can't be latitude and longitude.   I checked the other sights also--great resources yet I do not see Roselund.  It must be just a farm or building as others have suggested...

I think it is just a block. All blocks between streets have names
