Bendik, the son of Johannes Johannessen and his wife Magrethe Lisbeth Sjursdatter was born in Osthuus, Sweden 1858.  Where is Osthuus (O with a/).  It is near Sandved and the parish of Skudesnaes.

You will find Bendik, his parents and his six siblings in the Norwegian 1865 census at http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/c.../61147&variabel=15&postnr=1435&fulle=true&spraak=e.
He was living at a farm called Midt-Eide. His father was the owner of the farm.  
The district is nowadays called Kopervik. It is on the south-western coast of Norway, near the town Haugesund and a little bit north of the city Stavanger.
