David, I just checked with the Swedish Tax Agency that keeps the Swedish population records, Ruth Elofsson was born in 1918 and died last year, 29 November 2008. She was married (I think her husband may have died after 2006 as he is not in the Swedish Death Index 1947-2006 and not in the present phone directory), and they had children.

As she was born in 1918 I would think her maiden name was Skog - they didn't have a record of her parents and her place of birth (you need the Regional archives for that - the Tax Agency took over the tasks in 1991) but the chronicle for the Skog family is under that heading linked to above.
Regarding the Regional Archives, there is often a time fram of 3 weeks or more for them to answer. They do have a form online for requesting estate inventories, but you don't need to send a second request. If they are doing some lookups for you to find the children, it may take them longer.
I'll link all your discussions to this one to show everyone the connections and what is know (i.e. done already).
regards,
Eva
