Nils Andersson (born 16 July 1780 in Polen, Husby-Oppunda) and Anna Stina Persdotter (born 23 November 1787 in Rycksta, Råby-Rönö) are my 3xgreat grandparents, where married 29 December 1805 in Råby-Rönö, and had five children between 1808 to 1824.
At his home in Berghammar in 1824 it is noted that he was convicted to hard labour at fortress for the 3rd time for stealing. (A1:7, 1816-1825, page 144, lines 1 & 2 - GID 110.19.53900)
In 1826 or 1828 (A1:8 Berghammar 1826-1830, page 26 Lines 1 & 2 - GID 110.20.64700 & GID 110.20.75400) he has come back home from Malmö. It is also stated that Nils had been sentenced to life in prison after his 4th conviction for theft.
By the next HFL (Berghammar 1836, lines 1 & 2 - GID 110.21.86900) his wife, Anna Stina Persdotter, is noted as a widow.
I have checked the death records for Malmö Slottsförsamling, which includes Malmö prison/castle, between 1831 to 1835, but have not found Nils death.
Even if Nils was in Malmö prison/castle before, he must have been sent to another prison for his 4th sentence.
My questions are:
Is it possible to located the court records to find details of his sentences, which will hopefully include which prison he was sent to?
Are the prison records available?
What other prisons could Nils have been sent to serve his life sentence and are the records available to find his death between 1831 to 1835?
Any help would be much appreciated,
Kind regards,
Al Neilson.
