Donna Johnson

Hello.
I am wondering how to get information from the Krigsarivet. I have emailed them with a request to look up information and have received no reply. I am wondering if perhaps they do not do look ups even for a fee.
I hope that maybe someone could go there for me? This is the last place that I can find to get past my brick wall. They have the military data that I am looking for. I can next post the data that I need if anyone can help me out.
Thank you,
Donna Johnson

The word krigsaviret is wrong. The correct word is krigsarkivet. You can also go to riksarkivet and then go to krigsarkivet.

Olof,
Sorry for entering the wrong spelling. I have gone to the web site & still could not figure out how to have research done.
Do they offer look ups? I am confused.
Thank you,
Donna

As far as I know You will have to go there in person. I can?t find anything about look-up-service.

Some of their material can be found on SVAR.

Or you could ask Anbytarforum if you haven?t already done so. Your mystery ancestor could be someone?s grandpa.

Christina,
Hello. I have many postings on my Daniel (Magnusson) Roos. I sure wish I could find someone with his data! I have found a couple of relatives so far. That was great!
Thank you for your reply.

Donna,
what information do you have on your ancestor and what kind of information do you think the Krigsarkivet can help you with? Many of the military lists pre 1880 is microfilmed and some are available over the Internet. I suggest you to let us know what you want and then maybe someone here can help you further in your research. Many of the readers of Anbytarforum is the best known genealogical researchers in Sweden, more better then the staff at the Krigsrakivet.

For Donna,
Marks kompani, there you can find your Daniel Ros also, according to Centrala soldatregistret, I don't know when he was there. Maybe the contact at Älvsborg can help. There is also microfiche at SVAR for this part of the army.

For Donna,
now I see at your other postings that you already tried this, and found no birthplace except Skaraborg there (1806-04-30 to 1827-08-29).

Thank you for your reply. I do have Daniel's later military data but am looking for the information before 1806 or 1805.
He retired from the Göteborg Live Regements and his number was 54. His place was taken over by Anders Åberg. (March 1806)
Daniel was a boatman/soldier for 11 years in Göteborg. I am trying to find anything from that time period. It may give me a clue as to where he was born.
Thank you again everyone for your help. Any ideas as to where to turn next would be greatly appreciated.

For Donna,
Krigsarkivet has records for Kongl Majt:s Sjöartilleribataljon och Göteborgseskadern i arm?ns flotta, or Livkompaniet vid göteborgseskadern but they are not on mikrofiche. Daniel Roos is mentioned at number 54 in the years 1795, 1796, 1798, 1799, 1800, 1801, 1802, 1804 and 1805. Next in 1806 he is replaced. The preceeding year of records is 1790. He is said to have been enrolled November 17, 1793, but nothing is said about his place of birth.

Elvi,
Thank you so much for your help. I am happy to have more information on my missing soldier Daniel.
As we now know for sure what company/group he was in, I am hoping that this can be researched a little further. There is still hope!

Thank you,
Donna
