Hello,
I have received an invoice from Sveriges Släktforskarföbund via e-mail on 4 March 2008.  The message says Bifogar Faktura-804555; Avser 2008.  The invoice was sent as an attachment.  I am unsure if this is a legitimate billing for geneologic research and, if it is, how to pay the bill.  I am located in Colorado, USA.  Can someone advise me, please?
Thanks,
John

John, it's the bill from The Federation of Swedish Genealogical Societies - not for genealogical research but for your account here at Anbytarforum, for 12 months.
Send an e-mail to the forum host (she's employed by the federation), Anna-Lena Hultman at anbytare@genealogi.se and she can tell you how to pay it.

regards,
Eva

At the lower part on this page are instructions how you can pay with credit cards:

I thought I HAD paid by credit card, using the link provided above. However, I received an invoice today. I do understand that att betala means to pay but why did I enter my credit card number on the internet if I now have to pay again?

Something has been stamped on the invoice but unfortunately it wasn't stamped hard enough. I can tell it ends with LD but the first part of the word is too dim to read.

I have to say that I'm not sure it is worth going through this stress to be able to post on Anbytarforum. It will cost far too much money to convert dollars to SEK for such a small sum.

Could it be stamped BETALD?   Which means paid?

I seriosly doubt that the administration of the payment is done in a way that any of us can call proffesional, so my proposal is still to take it away.

And if sending information, make it possible to understand for all those that doesn't understand Swedish. To me a reasonable requirement, but obviosly not for the the persons responsible for this #¤%%&%¤ (won't write what I think) process.

Hi Mats,

It is possible that the stamped word is Betald. (I hope that is what it says.) The first letter has a straight left side and the rest of that letter starts to curve, so it could be a B. I think the letter in front of LD is an A, now that you provided a word to compare the stamped part with. The rest of that stamped word is basically invisible but seems to be about the right length to be that word.

I don't mind the payment (if I don't have to convert from dollars to SEK), especially if it helps with the spam problem we had before, but this is really confusing. There are lots of abbreviations on the invoice, and I don't understand Swedish abbreviations very well, unless I've seen them a lot of times in my genealogy. ;-)

I would have used a dictionary, but it is impossible to look up words when only the last two letters can be seen. Thanks so much for helping me with this.

Judy,

Is it maybe printed KONTANTNOTA in the head of the document? If so, you can be sure that your payment is OK.

Judy,

We, the native speakers, do not understand the invoices either! I have had three.

Hi Ingegerd,

Yes, the top of the page says Kontantnota. That is a relief. Thank you!

Hi Chris,

I'm surprised that native speakers also have trouble with this invoice. Apparently, it needs to have further clarification since an invoice should be clear.

It is comforting to know that Swedes find this invoice confusing too. Thanks for telling me.
