Hi! The province of Skåne was until recently divided into two administrative counties (län), one being Malmöhus (where the city of Helsingborg is situated) and the other being Kristianstad. Hope this answers your question!

Hi Gloria, Now I'm doing this from memory, but if I'm not mistaken the city of helsingborg has two parishes and there are three parishes in the areas surrounding HBG.

Hi,

Helsingborg's church records are online at DDSS:
http://ddss.nu/
They are in the database called Skånes Demografiska Databas and you can only access them from the Swedish version of the site. Just click on Databaser and then select this database under Övriga databaser. You then have a choice of birth, marriage and death records. If you have trouble with the names of the fields, check out the English site for the larger database and how it is set up.

Bollnas births

August Alfred Lundblom was born 26 Mar 1844 in Bollnas, Gavleborg but he doesn't appear in birth records for that year. Can the date be looked up incase he was under a different surname?
I have his Embas info but need to find records on August before he left Sweden and on his parents and siblings. His surname became Bloom in America.
This has been my long time brick wall and I would be most thankful if one of you could solve this mystery  so my research can continue.
Thanks a million. Sharon Sue Marvin

Children were not registered under a surname. They were registered under their first name. Example:
Anna, born 9 March, bapt. 11 March, parents crofter Erik Abrahamsson,  wife Anna Andersdotter living at Röstebo (name of the croft).

There is no August Alfred born in Bollnäs during the entire year of 1844; as a matter of fact, there is no one called August and no one called Alfred.
I've also checked the previous year and the next year.

Where does Emibas say that he lived when he decided to emigrate? Might be easier to follow him from that end.

Friends!

I sent a direct e-mail and informed about my search, tracing August Alfred back. From Selånger via Lit and before that Sunne! According to Lit records he came there from Sunne Dec 12 1869. However nothing found in Sunne records.

Olle,

Sunne, Jämtland or Sunne, Värmland? Perhaps August Alfred came from the parish you did not check (unless you looked at both)?

Regards,
Jeff

Jeff!

A very good suggestion - will check Sunne(Z).
Getting a bit narrowminded when living in Värmland ...

Olle!

Glad to help. Considering that Lit(Z) is close to Östersund and so is Sunne(Z), it seems more likely August Alfred came from Jämtland rather than Värmland.

Jeff

Jeff!
Sure - however my first search of migration registers for Sunne(Z), available at SVAR, did not produce any positive results - at least at first glance. But I'll keep on looking.
Greetings from Karlstad
