Gosh - a Swedish name?

My gGrandfather was the product of a Russian father and a Swedish mother. His surname was often stated as Gosh Koboroff. The latter is Russian but Gosh is not known as such so I was wondering if this name has any Swedish routines.

Don't think so . It doesn't sound or look Swedish, the sh ending is not common. A directory search reveals no Gosh'es (!) However, add a c, as in Gosch, and the phone directory provides about 40 entries.

Thanks. It quite likely. His mother's name had been Anglacised to Grendalt so there's no reason why the Gosch couldn't have become Gosh.

I went to school with a girl who?s name was Gooch= pronounced gosh. Perhaps the changed the spelling.

Uwe, Heinz, etc.
