Sandra Peabody

I'm trying to find the correct parents for Anders.  He is said to be born ??/??/1682 at Gunnebye, Varvik, Alvsborg but christened at Kopparp, Saby, Jonkoping on October 07, 1683 and died December 09, 1767, place unknown.  I have 2 sets of parents...Oluf Andersson born 1660 in Varvik and Mrs. Oluf Andersson born 1669 in Varvik.  I have been unable to find her name besides Mrs.. This would make her only 13 at the time of birth. The other set of parents are Olof Bengtsson born Abt. 1647 Saby and Ingeborg Andersdotter born Abt. 1643 Saby.  I'm think he was stepson to first couple.  Any help appreciated.  Thank you.

Is this information from Family Search (http://www.familysearch.org) or it from some  Swedish parish records you found on microfilm or on Genline?  Family Search is not at all a complete listing of all people who have lived. Only one of my four grandparents is listed there and only a couple of their ancestors are on that site. Certainly there would have been many more possibilities for someone named Anders Olofsson and born about that time period in Sweden or even in one of those parishes. That name is exceedingly common.

I very much doubt that the Swedish parish records would call her Mrs. Oluf Andersson. That sounds like something we would find on Family Search when the researcher who submitted that information didn't go back far enough. (Women didn't take the patronymic name of their husbands back then.) I also doubt that a 13 year old girl would have been allowed to marry (but of course that was a long time ago and I am not an expert). She was probably not even old enough to have been confirmed.

This topic has been partially discussed on the Genforum board. It is very important to use the Swedish letters, as Ingela told you.

Some of this Genforum thread also refers to this family, I think. Bo also urged you to use the Swedish letters. They are not optional.

To make the extra Swedish letters, use the Facts --> Language --> Alphabet, etc. pathway on SweGGate.
