I am interested in finding the parish that my 2nd Great Grandfather Peter Magnsuon came from  
in Sweden. He was born 25 Jan 1838 and married
Justine Swens 07 Nov 1862. His parents were
Howard? Magnuson and Tena Hokenson. Her parents
were Swen Swanson and Marie Abraham. At least 5 of 11 children were born in Sweden. Emma Dec 1862, Hilda Marie 2 Jul 1864, Henry 12 Jul 1866, John 1869, and Amanda 1871. They emigrated to America in 1872. They ended up in Noble Co, Indiana. Any info would be appreciated. Thank You.

I found Justina Magnusson and four of the children on the EmigrationCD.
Justina left Gothenburg (Göteborg)for Goshem with two daughters; Emma 8 years old and Hilda 6 years old
Date: 3rd of May 1872 Justinas?age was 34.
The same date also Anders Magnusson, 4years, and Johan Magnusson, 2 years, left Gothenburg but the destination was NY
They all came from Byared (F)

It is probably not the same person.Are you sure of all dates.
I have looked for Byared in Sweden, but I can not find it.

Thank you for replying so quickly. Justina was born 26 Jul 1837, so she would be 34 on 3 May 1872.  Seems the childrens ages are two years difference. They were obtained from some marriage records, but I looked again at US Census of 1880. Ages: Emma was 16, Hilda 13, Henry (Anders??) 12 and John 10. Seems to fit above information.  
I believe they first arrived in New York.
What is the Emigration CD, can I access this CD?
Is Byared a Parish or town?  
And Where is Peter?
Does the Cd say when they left for New York?

Claude, the family came from Byarum in Jönköpings län, just as Anna-Lena poited out. Peter Magnusson emigrates from Gothenburg 4:th November 1870, destination New York. The rest of the family leaves Gothenburg 3:d May 1872, destination as meantion above.

Calle, Anna and Agneta, You all have been so helpful. I can't thank you enough. Calle, your
info confirms some conflicting info. I had a feeling Peter and Justina came at different times. A bio of Peter in Noble CO, IN states he came in 1870. But the 1900 US census lists them as both coming in 1872. It looks as if Jonkopings Lan is near Stengardshult (Byarum parrish marriage residence of Peter).

I ask this as I assume Peter and Justina had brothers and sisters and would love to know if I have any distant relatives still living in the Jonkopings area. A good reason to visit Sweden in the future.

Justina was born in Byarum parish:
28 June 1837, her father was torpare (crofter) Sven Andersson, her mother was Maja Johansdotter (listed variously as Maja/Maria and Johansdotter/Jansdotter - it's the same name really); they lived at a croft called Liden at Boarp.
Since her father was called Sven, Justina's full name was Justina Svensdotter (and this didn't change when she married).
 
Justina had at least two brothers:
Gustav born 12 February 1832 (Gustav Svensson)
August born 24 July 1843 (August Svensson)
 
Justina was married to Peter Magnusson 14 December 1861, in Byarum. Peter is noted as hemmansägare (farm owner) from the parish of Stengårdshult while Justina is noted as piga (maid) living at Liden, Boarp. So presumably she was living with her parents.
After the marriage Peter moves over to Byarum and takes over the torp (croft) Liden at Boarp. Here the Swedish children are born:
14 December 1862, Emma Elin (would in Sweden be called Emma Elin Petersdotter)
02 July 1864, Hilda Maria
12 July 1866, Anders Magnus (in Sweden Anders Magnus Petersson)
28 August 1868, Sven Johan
There is however no trace of Amanda and since she is not on the Emigrant-CD either I don't think she was born in Sweden.
 
I'm afraid I can't find Peter (he wasn't born in Stengårdshult or Byarum) for you, nor can I tell you where Justina's parents came from (they were not born in Byarum anyway).  
POSSIBLY Justina's mother died 11 June 1871 in Byarum (at Boarp) in which case she was born 06 February 1807 and POSSIBLY her father died 15 November 1878 (at Smedsbo at Boarp) in which case he was born 03 January 1806.
 
But you really need to see the Husförhörslängd for both Byarum and Stengårdshult!
