Hello, I am seeking information on the emmigration of Carl Schon. In American records he reports that he immigrated to America in 1864. He was born in 1841 in Horup and his fathers name was Hakan Olsson Schon. Carl had a brother Nels that came to America. Nels reports his immigration in American records as 1869. Carl also had a sister Carolina that came to America. Carolina emmigrated from Sweden 9/8/1869,Tranas Kristianstad lan Skane. Any information is appreciated. Thank you, Mark

Hi Mark,
the family Skön, later Schön, consisting of Håkan, wife Kjersti, 3 sons and a doughter moves around a bit in the parish Hörup.  
Unfortunately the entire family in 1854 moves to the Eljaröd, a parish that has very few church records. Aparantly the sons leave from Eljaröd to US and found no records giving more information.
 
Turning to Carolina, I had quick look in Tranås but did not find her or her parents. A thorough search will most likely turn up Carolina.

From the Hörup records it should be possible to follow the family backwards.
The question is what You are looking for.

Mark,
I didn't read Sam's posting proplerly. He found the father, second wife, Carolina and more children in Tranås 28.
You could therefore have a chance to find more relatives still living in Sweden.

Hello, Thank you Sam and Nils it is wondreful to hear from you men in Sweden. I am glad for the information that you have given me. I have many of the church records from Horup for this family and I have been tracing this family back to other parishes. My main question is when did Carl Schon leave Sweden? Although any information is exciting and helps me continue exploring my ancestors in Sweden. From the information both of you have given me I will begin looking in Tranas and Eljarod.
