Mr. Damstrom is supposed to come from either
 
 
Skane or the Goteborg area in the early 1900,
 
 
his grand daughter is looking for relatives.
 
 
He settled in the New York area. We know there
 
 
is numerous Damstrom's around, would someone
 
 
please reply! For years my wife (the grand daughter) and her brother been talking about
 
 
the family and where they came from and did'nt
 
 
do anything about it, please help, I can't take
 
 
it any longer!

I found this man:
 
The sailor Johan Bernhard Damström born July 21, 1871 in Raus parish, Malmöhus county, province of Skåne. He got his moving letter (flyttningsbetyg) for America on Dec. 15, 1890. At that time he lived at Raus # 2 in Raus parish.

I searched for him in the Swedish passengerlists on CD Emigranten but didn't find him leaving 1890, but I found him with his family in 1907, I think. They are listed as:
 
John B. Damström, 36 years old
Bertha Damström, 31 years old
Algott Damström, 3 years old
Arvid Damström, 1 year old
This family left for America from the port of Göteborg on Aug. 14, 1907. They had a return ticket and they were going to New York. Source code: 84:393:20162.

Please notice what Anna-Lena writes is most probably correct, but this family on the Emigrant CD already lived in America at that time.
( Note: Residence: America on all 4 persons )
This means that they have emigrated before this date in 1907, and that they have been home to visit only.

John Damström emigrated from the port of Copenhagen (Denmark), as many Swedes did if they lived in the southern parts of the country. I found the following in the Danish online database:
 
Damstrøm John Arbejder 20 N. Y. 1628 3/17/1891 Sverrig ? Sverrig USA  I9091D0604
 
John Damström, worker, age 20, left for New York on 17 Mar 1891, place of birth Sweden (Sverrig). 1628 is the ticket no, I think. I9091D0604 is a source reference.

We are trying to find out where Berta Matilda
 
 
Damstrom (nee Anderson) came from. She was the wife of John Bernhard Damstrom which we found.
 
They left from Goteborg in 1907 after a visit
 
from USA. John came from Raa in Raus parish in
 
Malmohus county. We have idea that Berta possbly
 
could have come the Goteborg area, why would they leave from Goteborg unless Berta had relatives there! Any info from anyone?

To find where Berta Matilda is born, you would have to follow the churchrecords of her husband,
to see where they get married etc, her maiden name and so on.
There is also good internet pages on Skane area on www.dds.nu  
 
Just because they travelled to/from Gothenburg does not mean that Berta came from Gothenburg.
This, as it was one of the main ports of Sweden, and still is.
