I am looking for an Emigrant whose name in USA was William Sandeen. He married a gr aunt named Emma Johannesdotter. I know all about her,but nothing about him. He was born 06 Dec 1867 but have no idea where. He emigrated 1890 from Sweden.

I searched the Emigranten CD for men named Sandin/Sanden/Sandeen age 18-28 emigrating 1885-1895. There were only two with names anything like William:

Name: WILHELM SANDIN, Age: 27, Parish: NEDERKALIX, County: BD (Norrbotten), Port: GÖTEBORG, Date: 1892-11-11, Destination: NEW YORK, Fellows: NEJ (Alone), Source code: 49:415:902

Name: CARL WILH SANDIN, Age: 20, Parish: UPPSALA, County: H (Kronoberg), Port: GÖTEBORG, Date: 1888-12-07, Destination: MARATHON IOWA, Fellows: NEJ (Alone), Source code: 37:387:3193

The parish and county information seems wrong, I dont think there is an Uppsala parish in Kronoberg county.

There is also the possibility that he used another name in Sweden and took the name Sandeen after emigrating. He could also have emigrated via another country, for example Norway.

I also looked in Befolkning 1890 (Sw. census) for men named Vilhelm/Wilhelm Sandin/Sanden/Sandeen. There were none born 1867, but there were  two born 1865, two 1866, one 1868 and one 1869.

Meryth,

You may want to keep in mind that migration years in censuses aren't always exact. Sometimes different emigration years are stated for the same person in different censuses.

Marriage Records in Illinois include copies of the Marriage Certificate and more importantly the Marriage License. The Marriage license has both the grooms's and the bride's place of birth, father's name, mother's maiden name. From this information you can request a CD look up.
good luck!
