Thurston from Hdorderg

i am trying to find anyone who can help me find a birth place for my  
great grandmother.
Her name in america was Mary Grace Turner,but her birth name was either  
malina or matina thurston.she was born oct 28 1886.I am not sure what  
year she came to america but she married william J turner in Nebraska  
and had her first son in 1910 on dec 08.
I was at her bed side when she died july 3 1966 and the last thing she  
told me was that I needed to go back to sweden because that was where  
the rest of the family was.
Please help me find my way home.If you have any info it would greatly  
be appreciated.The foster family who raised me after her death so they  
could take the money she left me told me she was from Hdorderg Sweden
(which doesn't exsist)The only info I had they destroyed while I was  
still to young to read

Do you have any idea where she lived in 1920 and 1930? It is a lot easier to find her if we know when she immigrated, so if we know where she lived we can find out by looking at the US census on approx. year of immigration.

Yes this is her and family at that time.  But later was in Missouri.
 
Hdorderg must be an old spelling of a place in Sweden.  I will order her Social Security information.  But this is very difficult.  If anyone has information later on this please post a reply.

If she joined a Swedish American church, the parish of birth will be listed in the membership records. The Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center has many of those records (and they have a listing of church records they have on microfilm), but their extensive records aren't online.

Clearly, the place name has been misread at some point. Old hand writing can be hard to decipher, especially if you don't know the language (and thus don't know what interpretations are more plausible than others).  
 
The exact spelling Hdorderg is gibberish in Swedish. For instance, I've never seen Swedish place names ending in -derg, but lots and lots with the ending -berg (meaning mountain or hill), so Hdorberg should be closer to the truth.  
 
Also, no Swedish words start wih hd, so one or both of these letters are wrong. Perhaps someone with access to the Rosenberg CD (a dictionary of 19th century place names) could suggest some candidate names? But it might be the farm name you've got, not a parish name, and in that case it may not be listed.
 
You said her birth name was Malina or Matina, then the correct Swedish spelling ought to have been Malena or Malin or Martina. Thurston could possibly have been Torsson, but I'm not sure.

Perhaps Hdorberg could be Warberg, now = Varberg;  
in handwritten text W could have been read as Hd.
 
In census 1900 for Halland you can find one Martina born 1900. At present I can not look up in the census.

In 1917 they call her  
malina.On the census form you told me to look at it says she came in  
1903 and she was natural?in 1907.

Michael, have you looked up her marriage record and the birth of her children? What does these records say about her name? Or isn?t there some records of her naturalization in 1907?
I?ve looked in the 1890 census of Sweden, but there are simply too many Malin, Maria, Matilda, Malena with fathers called Thor, Tor, Torsten, Thorsten.

There is only one Swedish girl born 1886 in the census of 1900 called Malena. Her father was Truls Jönsson.
Perhaps something worth looking into.
