Ok I now have the following information on Nils Gustaf Lofqvist.  I want to see if anyone can trace either His mother Johanna's family or his father Per Nilsson.

Father: Per Nilsson born 1826 in Sunne. Shoemaker in 1890 at Lövåsen 33, Sunne
Mother: Johanna Håkansdotter born 1827 Ekshärad.

Daughter: Anna born 1870 in Lövåsen, Sunne.

In 1900 the families lokked like this:

Nils Gustaf was carpenter and lived alone in Lövåsen, Sunne, his wife Emma Nilsdotter lived at Norra Råda.

Not sure what it all says but I know it is them.  It seems to be the census papers???  I think I am getting the hang of this slowly.

GID 527.12.46800, GID 527.69.30200 - Do you mean the left half of the right page?

First are two columns for reading and christian knowledge, then for each year columns for Household Examinations (F = Förhör) and taking communion (N = Nattvard).
-----------------------------------------

GID 527.98.60500 (Sunne Hfl AI:76 1891-1896) - This is the household examination roll for the period 1891-1896, it shows all the people ordered after where they live, their arrivals and departures, reading skill and christian knowledge, and taking part in examinations and taking communion. It is like a cencus but kept continously.
------------------------------------------

GID 527.76.58300 (Sunne Hfl AI:60 1871-1875) - the child (B = barn) Maja Lisa, born 1857-06-15 moves 1875-11-08 to page 471 (GID 527.76.54600), where she is emplyed as piga (maid).
------------------------------------------

GID 527.55.33200 (Sunne C:9 BMD 1820-1848 page 293) Per Nilsson was born 9 November (9/11 is 9 November in the Swedish style), so this is the wrong page.

I think you can see him on page 297 (GID 527.55.33400)

Name: Per from Askerud
Birth date: 9 Nov 1826
Parents: Nils Persson and wife Karin Olsdotter.
Baptised the 11th by Ling(?).
Baptism witnesses: Nils Nilsson, wife Gertrud Olsdotter from Svineberg(?).

Note that his mother Karin Olsdotter is with the family in the 1861-1865 HFL (GID 527.69.30200) to 1871-1875 (GID 527.76.58300), where she dies 1877-05-06.

Thank you.  Half the battle is learning the language.  I now have a packet of word translations that I will have to use.  I did not know about the birth dates being opposite what we would do here.  I will have to go back and fix everyone in the family tree I am starting.  Thank you so much.  Now I know why I could not find people's birth records etc.

But watch out for secondary sources, they might have already converted the dates to American style. For example the English-language version of the Swedish Cencus 1900 CD.

So it might be best to write the dates like 9 Nov 1826 instead of 9/11 1826 or 11/9/1826.
