Here is a copy of the 1930 census - just the part where his name appears.  I will send the entire page to you via your e-mail.

The column that says Knut did not serve in the military is on the far right - the last column that is written in.  It says no.  The question before it (were you employed the past 12 months?) was put into the census because it was taken after the start of the Great Depression.

Hi
Just a small change of info around Ebba. She is 43 years old (she was 41 when she married two years before 1930) in the 1930 census

in that case it may be Ebba Strid, the age matches better. Also, they have changed the spelling from Karlson to Carlson since marrying

Hi
Took a look into CD emigranten with the age of Ebba and I found two new that emigrated 1923.

Ebba Maximiliane Starkenberg, age 35, from Stockholm emigrated Dec 1923. She went with Kungsholm to New York and destination was her sister Greta , living on 56 street, Brooklyn. Very interesting, or what do you say?

The next one was Ebba Olsson, from Gothenburg leaving in July. She also went with Kungsholm and she travelled with her twin Emma, both of them (of course) 36 years old. Their final destination was their sister Alma Dahlgren, an dwhere did she live, oopps, 63 street Brooklyn.

I wonder if every Ebba was heading for Brooklyn?

On CD emigranten is also Ebba Starkenberg, 39, hembiträde, travelling from Swedem to USA Jan 1928. She has US as home parish.
Will see if we can find her second trip to see where she is heading

I suppose it could be either one of the 3 Ebbas, Strid, Olosson or Starkenberg.the age more or less fits and at least 2 of them lived in Broolyn. I found an old christmas card which said God Jul Broder and a poem which clearly speaks of longing for the old country signed Knut and Ebba. I never refected on it before that it actually also meant brother.
How can I find out where and where they died ? when is the next US census taking place after 1930 ?

Claes,

The 1940 U.S. Census won't be released until 2012. If you live in the U.S., try the records of the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center. They have a website but records aren't online.

http://www.augustana.edu/swenson/

A lot of the same records are kept in Växjö, Sweden.

Claes

Eva D pointed at a site where you can find marriage information. As Knut was found there it is possible to order the marriage certificate where the bride's name must be written.
The bride index for Kings (where they married) does not include 1928 (unfortunately)

The site provide a printable form for request.

Claes can also search the death database in the same link for himself (message of 11 January) with a lot more different spellings than I tried, otherwise we can draw the conclusion that Knut Petri at least was alive in 1942 which is when that database ends.

Judy, Claes at least speaks Swedish and orders microfiche from SVAR so I think he lives here.

Hälsningar,
Eva

Hi Eva,

I thought that Claes didn't live in the U.S. but I wasn't sure about his living in Sweden. I thought perhaps he might also be Norwegian or Danish, but his email address didn't really point out a location, so I tried to cover all logical possibilities. :-)

Hi
I have found out a lot more information on Knut Petris brothers and their families, even found living relatives here in Sweden. I also know now that Knut Petri worked as a sailor, which can explain why he did not come via Ellis Island. I have not come any further however  on when and where he and Ebba died. I have serched the death index, cemetaries in New York etc , no success. Any other suggestions ?

I searched again, using the Ancestry search engine, but could find no further information.  Sorry!
