Thank you Elisabet!  Thank you Olle!
This is the correct family.  We spent a long time last night looking at the husförhör and learning everything we could.
On the 1886-1892 husförhör, we think that line 7 is a step-son.  We believe he is Matilda's son from an earlier marriage. I think the Swedish 'oäkta s.'would be English 'step son'?
Can you tell from this source, what his original last name is?  We think it is something like 'Blutwin'.
We believe the daughter Emma Salide was still alive in 1952 and living in Aneby.  Do you have any suggestions on trying to locate her children or grand-children?
Again, thank you very much,
  Ralph and Cheryl

Oäkta means illegitimate and hennes oäkta son is her illegitimate son. Although in the case of Carl born 58 he is also a step-son...

The other children in that record are Gemens. barn (gemensamma barn = joint/common children).

Carl's surname can not be seen here, but according to HFL 1881-1885 page 187 (GID 1078.25.24100) he moved to Solberga(?) 1881-10-05.

This seems to be Emma Salida from the 1947-2003 deathbook:

18760718-242
Gustafsson f. Andersdotter, Emma Salida
Fridhem
Dead 4/27/1964.
Registered in Bälaryd, Bredestads kn (Jönköpings län, Småland).
Born 7/18/1876 in Bälaryd (Jönköpings län, Småland).
Widow (12/24/1957).
--------------

Probably her husband:

18800114-241
Gustafsson, Gustaf Edvard
Skärsjö, Mostugan
Dead 12/24/1957.
Registered in Bälaryd, Bredestads kn (Jönköpings län, Småland).
Born 1/14/1880 in Flisby (Jönköpings län, Småland).
Married man (3/9/1905).

Hi!

The easiest way to trace the children of Emma Salida Gustafsson would be to contact the relevant C?unty Archives and ask for a copy of the estate inventory deed (bouppteckning), which always is made after a person has died. It lists the heirs as well as the property of the deseased person. For Jönköping, the County Archives are located in Vadstena and can be reached at the following e-mail address: landsarkivet@landsarkivet-vadstena.ra.se

Good luck with your research! Best regards from Susanne

Dear Ralph, Cheryl and others writing on this subject,

I heard from a friend (thank you Nils!)
of my mother, who saw your message, that you were asking about a family that were living in Mosstugan, outside Aneby.

I think I can provide you with information on one person: Axel Andersson, (illegitimate)son of Mathilda Johannesdotter. He was my grand-father on my mothers side. He married to Helga and they worked together at different farms in the area around Aneby. Then they moved to Bodafors, also in Smaland, and got 2 sons and 3 daugthers. My mother, Asta (now 86), is the only child of Axel who is still alive.

I can provide you with more information on Axels life if you wish? Please write to my hotmail larsingen@hotmail.com if so. And maybe the reason for that you are searching information?

My mother and I would appreciate if your contacts in Sweden - I mean those who have written to this page - could provide us with information on the background of Axel and his mother - Matilda J, as we know very little about their background. Please write to the same hotmail adr. We don?t know anything about Axels father. Besides some rumors.. We would appreciate information very much, as we are no genealogists. Thank you Elisabet for the printing of the household record!

Thank you and best wishes,
Lars Johansson

Lars Johansson,
Mathilda Johannesdotter was according to the picture of 26 april 2006 above born 1849 24/1 in Lommaryd parish. When I search the records I find a Matilda born that day in Vittaryd södergård, child of the farmer (but not owner) of that farm, Johan Gust. Carlsson and wife Katarina Israelsdotter.
In the husförhörslängd they appear like this:

As you can see Johan Gustav Carlsson was born in Lommaryd - and in 1/10 1802. I find him there as Johannes Gustav, son of Carl Jonsson and wife Ingeborg Månsdotter in Norrby Eriksgård. Both Carl Jonsson and Ingeborg Månsdotter are born in Lommaryd parish (hfl).
I hope this will be a temtation to continue
Regards from,
Olle Elm

In Bo's posting above he says: Carl's surname can not be seen here, but according to HFL 1881-1885 page 187 (GID 1078.25.24100) he moved to Solberga(?) 1881-10-05.
How would we go about finding this entry?  How would we go about finding him in Solberga?
Are these images on-line or do we have to get to the micro-film?
We would like to find out these answers also, so we can find out what happened to Eva Charlotta   and Amanda.
Thanks,
  Ralph and Cheryl

Ralph!
Via a search in the 1890 census ( Karl born 1858 in Bäleryd) I found him working in Norra Solberga parish at the Anneberg match-factory.
Here with wife and two daughters:

I don't know if this is the best place to ask this question, but it kind of follows from the other questions.
We've been looking through the house-hold examinations on the Genline.com site.

Are there plot maps which show where the individual farms were in the 1800s.

During the 1800s and even into the early 1900s, there were in many of the American states, maps of the counties or townships which showed who owned the property.  It doesn't help when somebody was renting the land because it still showed who owned the lans.
