Hi Betty, there are far too many Blom's, not to mention the different possibilites for the Swedish version of Johnson (maybe Johansson/Johansdotter, son/daughter of Johan), for a search for  the names of your relatives on the CD Emigranten (the Emigrant) without a year of emigration. Birth dates are not mentioned in the source material for emigration, only 'age at emigration' - which would vary considerably depending on when they left Sweden. There is also a possibility that they left via Norway, and then they are not mentioned on the CD, but there are online records for those ports on Norwegian websites.

The best you can do is to check the records in the US first. Have you checked for information on the family in the census of 1900, it states the year of emigration if I remember correctly. Are any of the children born in Sweden, or are they born in the US, that would give a latest year for emigration?

You may also check for that information in Swedish-American church records, if they belonged to a church in the US. Those records often give the place of birth in Sweden (the parish). Do the obituaries give any information on year of emigration & birth place or province to narrow it down? Does marriage license or death certificate indicate anything on dates and parents?

You may want to check the information and hints on Swedish research at Swedish Roots, a section of this website, at http://www.genealogi.se/roots/

By the way, Gustof is Gustaf (or Gustav - both spellings are correct, but the first is more often used in older times).

Good luck!
Kind regards,
Eva Dahlberg
