Harry Olson

My Grandparents came from Sweden in the early 1900's.   I believe my Grandfather changed his name from Andersson to Olson sometime after they arrived.   My Grandparents came across separately; my Grandfather through Canada, my Grandmother (with four boys, Olaf, Anton, Nels, Swen) through Boston.   The following information is all I have.  Help?

Andrew Olson
Born: April 4, 1872 in Skona, Sweden
Died: Jan. 16, 1942 (I assume Ashland, WI, USA)
Entry: Nov 7, 1905 (From Canada to Emerson, ND, USA)
  Naturalization: Jan 29, 1918. Cert. #606, Circuit
Court, Ashland

Elsie Olson
Born: March 6, 1870 in Skona, Sweden
  Died: April 13, 1940 (I assume Ashland)
Entry: July 16, 1906 (Boston, Mass, USA)
  Naturalization: Same as above.

The place is most certain Skåne which is the southest district in Sweden.
Elsie could have been Elsa. I found an Elsa born 6 march 1870 in Näsum parish. Her parents were Sven Trulsson and Karin Andersdotter. It's a long shot.

I greatly appreciate the help.

Are there marriage records which would help with my Grandmother's maiden name and also help with my Grandfather?

Also, a general question on names?   Let's assume my Grandmother was the daughter of Sven Trulsson and Karin Andersdotter... when she got married would her name on the marriage certificate be Elsa Svensdotter or Elsa Trulsson?   I assume the former but please confirm my knowledge, or lack of, Swedish names?

Thanks again for your assistance.

If we assume that she is the right one, she can appear as Svensdotter or Trulsson. When my grandmother got married in 1910, she was called Persdotter. But later on I've seen her with the name Håkansson. Her father was Per Håkansson.

Sorry, but you can forget Elsa in Näsum. She died when she was only 2 months old. The parents got another child in 1871, which also was named Elsa.
And they also got a child in 1869 that was named Elsa. Two children with the name Elsa died for them, but they continued with the name.
I hope that you have more luck in Fränninge. Unfotunely the parish books are not online.
Fränninge is a nice little village. My sister live nearby.
