Hi Erwin,

I haven't finished looking but I did want to immediately post information about this person, who is the older sister of my mormors mor. I hadn't had time to research her yet. I guess you have done a lot of that job for me. :-)

Here is Karin Olsdotter's birth information.

Karin
born 1816 12/9 (Sept. 12)
baptised 1816 15/9 (Sept. 15)

parents: Olof Ersson and Annika Larsdotter in Tjärtakan

witnesses: Olof Andersson and Maja (Larsdotter???) in Skarbo.

I haven't learned a lot yet about Olof Ersson and Annika Larsdotter, but they were both born in Frändefors.

Olof Ersson was born in 1779 and Annika Larsdotter was born in 1788.

Their children were (as far as I've learned at this point):

Karin, born 12 September 1816
Christina, born 9 October 1819
Brita, (my mormors mor), born 5 October 1821
Peter Johan, born 3 November 1832

There was a mistake with Brita's birthdate after her marriage. She was given the birthdate of Christina in later years, which caused some headaches during research. :-)

The information for Karin's birth is on the Frändefors fiche C:2 2/4.

What is Karin Olsdotter's relationship to you?

I have been trying to read these fiche with a very poor fiche reader which requires me to read the films sideways, and my neck has been injured in an auto accident last November, so I can't do too much at one time. I will try to take the time from a very busy schedule to go to a local university to use their far better fiche reader/printers, but finding that time is sometimes quite elusive.

I was unable to find Johannes on first check but perhaps the husförhörslängd will help show him as a child with his parents, and then I can look again.

I haven't checked for the other two yet.

Hi again, Erwin,

I am not done yet but I did find the births of Johannes and Elen.

First Johannes Eriksson (or Ersson as he was found on the husförhörslängd around the time of his wife Karin Olsdotter's death).

Johannes, born May 2, 1816
baptised May 4, 1816

His parents were:

Erik Larsson and Karin Olsdotter in (Ennistaken???).

Witnesses were Lars (Andersson??)
Annika (Olsdotter ??)ibm (the same place as the parents, apparently)

This is information about Elin Persdotter. The writing was poor but the real problem is the ink bleedthrough from the other side of the page, so much of the information couldn't be read. Perhaps I can do better by enlarging the difficult sections at the university.

Elin, born ? March 1815
baptised 7 March 1815

Parents were:

Per Halfvordsson and (Borta????) Hansdotter in  (?) (Lofnaptorp????)

Witnesses were:

Nils Olsson and (???) Olsdotter in Dernäs.

Source for the above was Frändefors fiche C:2 2/4.

I will now try to find the birth of your Lars Olsson.

Hi Erwin,

I have a correction for one of the witnesses for Karin's birth.

The woman should be, as far as I can tell looking sideways, Maja Svensdotter, NOT Maja Larsdotter.

I am sorry about that.

Hi Erwin,

Lars Olsson wasn't born on September 19, 1811 in Frändefors. If he was born in Frändefors, he apparently was born September 22. There was probably a mistake (very common) in the reading of the often sloppy writing. (No child was born on September 19 in the records for 1811.)

I checked all of 1811 and this is the only child who could be yours.

Lars, born 22 September 1811
baptised 27 September 1811

His parents were:

Olof Larsson and Anna (???Hansdotter???) in (?ning??)

Witnesses were:

Anders (Halfvorsson??) and Catrina Olsdotter ibm (in the same place as the parents)

My neck is getting uncomfortable from all this sideways reading, and I would rather make some copies of this information too so perhaps you can figure out the difficult parts yourself. When I go to the university, and I am sorry that it is hard to get there when I am busy, then I will check the husförhörslängd records and try to learn more and confirm the names and locations for you.

Hi Erwin,

I've been looking at some husförhörslängd from Frändefors, and found more children for Olof Ersson and Annika Larsdotter, parents of your Karin Olsdotter, who was the maternal aunt of my mormor. This is information I have copied but I have not analyzed it yet. I usually have to study these records to get every ounce of information I can out of each piece. I haven't had time to do that yet.

It looks as if Olof Ersson had been previously married. He has two wives, one of which has been crossed off.The older children will probably prove to be those of the first wife.

B(Bonde = farmer) Olof Ersson 1779
H (Hustru = wife) Kjerstin Larsdotter 1783 (crossed out, and död = dead is written in the uttflyttad (moved out) column.
H Annika Larsdotter 1788?

S. Lars 1805
D. Kjerstin 1807  död 1812 (not sure if this death means Kjerstin or the name below Kjerstin. It is probably the next child and not Kjerstin.)
another name was crossed out 1814
another name was crossed out, can't read date

S. Nils 1813
D. Karin 1816 12/9 (September 12)

S. Erik? 1824 5/? (crossed out)

1829-1833  Source: A1:11 8/9 page 342

This was written very neatly (on the whole), which is a rarity.

B. Olof Ersson 1779 in Frändefors
H. Annika Larsdotter 1788, ditto

S. Nils 1813, ditto
D. Karin 1816 12/9, ditto
D. Christina 1819 9/10, ditto
D. Britta 1821 5/10, ditto
S. Erik (apparently another one) 1829 12/6, dead 1/5 31 (May 1, 1831)
S. Peter Johan 1832 ?/11, Frändefors

I haven't finished finding this family yet, so there might be other children. I haven't found all the kids in the birth or death records either, which is imperative. I also need to follow each of the children to other places, if necessary, see if they married, follow their children, etc. There is a lot to do. :-)

Hi Erwin,

I looked at Frändefors fiche A1:6 1/3 page 11, and found the family of your Johannes Eriksson. They were living at Enarstakan eller (or) Tomten, so the place had a couple of names.

The year is their birth year.

B (Bonde = farmer) Eric Larsson 1777
H. (hustru = wife) Karin Olofsdr. 1784?
S. Anders 1810
S. Lars 1812
S. Johannes 1816

Hi Erwin,

I can't yet figure out the name of Lars Olsson's mother. The writing is scrunched together, a name is crossed out with a very thick quill or whatever the priest used, and I need to check the husförhörslängder before and after the one for 1809-1812 to see if I can find some clues for you.

1809-1812

A1:5 1/3 page 38

Sväningstaka

B.Olof Larsson 1748 ?
H. Anna ? 1779
a line is crossed off heavily, and I wonder if it was another wife or a child or ??

Lars 1811

This can be figured out but this is all the time I have for the fiche tonight.

Judy
